Tips for GATE 2022 Preparation Without Coaching

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of the most eminent exams in the field of engineering and technology. GATE exam is conducted by IIT/IISc once in a year and there are several reasons to appear for the GATE exam. GATE Score is accepted in all the reputed colleges of India (IITs, NITs, and IISc) and various other good colleges in the country for pursuing Masters in Engineering/Technology. Also, various PSUs recruit through GATE Score which usually offers high salaries, technical designations, and various other benefits. Many world-ranked colleges accept GATE scores as a provision to apply for its various Masters and Ph.D. programmes. Due to high benefits of a good GATE score, lakhs of candidates appear in the exam but only a few of them succeed as competition in GATE exam is very tough and one needs proper strategy to crack GATE exam.

Coaching is a way which will guide you throughout your GATE 2022 Exam preparation, but it is not the necessary component. Many people will suggest that joining this coaching is better, or join another one it's content is better but you yourself need to make the choice according to your capability. Through coaching, you will know the boundaries of the syllabus, all the basics of all subjects will be taught and there will be interaction with other students who are seriously preparing for GATE. 

But Gate Preparation without coaching, it is also possible to prepare for the GATE exam but you will need a proper strategy for that. The major point that is time left, is also a key factor to decide what time of preparation you should do. First decide what you want to do after clearing the GATE exam. It is for higher studies, PSU jobs or any other. Set your aim and target accordingly. Like if you want to study in NIT then you need a lower score as compared to the score you want for getting admission in IISc or old IITs. For PSU, you need a much higher score. Set your aim and priority accordingly. Also, the syllabus of GATE is very vast so you cannot prepare full syllabus if you have very less time left. But for this condition, you can prepare two to three subjects which are of higher weightage and then it will help to boost up your score.

The basic points for GATE 2022 preparation strategy are:

• Select your subjects

• Start with the most important topics

• Discuss and Clarify your doubts

• Solve problems on that subject

• Solve previous years GATE problems on that subject

• Make short notes

• Then move to next subject and repeat the above steps

Short notes are very important because when your exam will be a few days later, then it will help to revise quickly. Quick revision is beneficial only if you look back to important topics and mark the mistakes also in the short notes which can reappear in the final exam. Make short notes in a concise way and make it on your own so that you will have the knowledge of what is where in case you forgot something.

Accuracy is also a key point as if the question goes wrong, then you will lose that question mark and also your positive marks which you have gained in your correct answer. If the MCQ goes wrong, then you will get 0 for that question and also you will lose some of your positive marks. Only attempt the questions you are sure about because the GATE exam is not like semester exams. In this nobody has ever got full-on full marks. So be patient and mark your answers accordingly.

After your subject is over, write the mock and check whether you have completed the subject properly or not. Also analyze your performance where you are lacking and try to avoid those mistakes in your next mock. After completing the full syllabus, attempt a full length mock also. It is always advisable to attempt at least 20 full length mock to know your preparation level and analyze them thoroughly.
