When it comes to flooring, you have two solid options to go with. One is tile, and the second one is marble.

Marble is a natural stone which is sourced from rocks and mountains found at different locations on earth and tiles are a manufactured product which is designed and processed in heavy industrial facilities all over the world.

Tile Flooring & Marble Flooring

There are two similar aspects of these two popular materials – they both are used for building a variety of surfaces in residential and commercial environments, such as walls, backsplash, accents, and flooring.

Tiles can be designed to look exactly like marble, different variations of marble, including Carrara, Calcutta, Rainforest, China, and California. That means, marble stone look tiles cost lower than real marble does.

But this is not the only difference between marble flooring and tile flooring. We have listed three other key differentiating features between these two flooring materials –

Porosity –

Marble is a natural stone, that like many other natural stones, has a porous surface. That means, there are innumerable tiny pores throughout its surface. Pores go across the thickness of stone slab, which often becomes a reason for staining and moisture problems.

But tiles don’t have any pores at all. In addition, they have a rigid, transparent polish applied on their surface, which doesn’t let moisture, water, and other factors affect the quality of installation over time.

Stain Resistance –

It is very easy for marble to catch stains due to its color and high porosity. Tiles, on the other hand, are a stain-resistant material which don’t stain easily. Spills are easy to clean on tile flooring.

Value –

Marble is expensive, but it is a premium material that add value to your home. It is one of the valuable assets of your property when you get it evaluated for sale, renting, leasing, or mortgage.

Tiles don’t add any value to your home.
