Three tips that will help you to organize a successful housewarming party

Do you have a new home? Congratulations! This should be celebrated. A housewarming is the perfect moment to show your friends and family your house.

A housewarming is literally a celebration in honor of moving into a new home. When you invite a lot of people into your new living space, there are a few things you should consider. And if you ask yourself the questions below in time, you'll be fine!

Who do I invite?

Are you going to invite your parents, family, all your friends and colleagues or keep it small? It's good to make a guest list in advance. Keep in mind the size of your house. You don't live large but you do want to invite everyone? Then it is also useful to invite people at different times of the day. Invite your family in the morning, colleagues in the afternoon and friends in the evening. Then you're off in one day and you have the rest of the weekend to recover. Sure, you can also grab several evenings during the week. It's completely up to you.

Also consider inviting your new neighbors over. That way they can see how the house turned out and you can already build a good relationship with them. Another advantage: if they are at the party themselves, they won't be so quick to complain about noise pollution.

When do I want to host the housewarming?

It is tempting to show off your new house or apartment right away by means of the housewarming party. But to keep your stress levels down, it's best not to do that. Plan your housewarming a few months after you have moved in.

You want it to be completely finished and you don't want any boxes left that you have to unpack. This is because it just doesn't feel finished yet. So take your time! Do not feel rushed to organize a party right away. No one will be happy about that.

What do I need?

A new house? That costs tons of money. New furniture, the entire renovation, the kitchen and all the accessories. It can be quite expensive. So keep your housewarming simple. Go for easy / cheaper snacks and drinks and do not overdo it with mega decorations. A new house is already beautiful enough.

If you do want to splurge, have everyone come in fancy dress. That way you don't have to spend money on decorations, but it is still fun with your aunt in a princess dress (in Dutch: prinsessenjurk) and your best friends with a bandana.

Do you feel like organizing your housewarming? Answer these three questions and let the party begin!
