This is what a KTM RC390 Two-stroke Could Look Like

This could be a KTM RC390 two-stroke. The portal has dared to make a design of the small Austrian sports car, equipping it with the TPI two-stroke engine and electronic injection.

This could be a KTM RC390 two-stroke. As many of you know, a few weeks ago we informed you that the manufacturer from Mattighofen announced the launch of a new two-stroke engine that works with electronic injection. This engine, called TPI, will be used in some of the Austrian giant's motocross bikes, specifically the EXC 250 TPI and EXC 300 MPI, which will arrive in 2018.

And of course, seeing KTM's ambitious commitment to this mechanism that 'race' bikers are so passionate about, some may think how this architecture would look on a sports bike. Have you tried KTM exc led headlight on RC390? Never do that. The colleagues have made our dreams come true and show a design that mixes the features of the KTM RC390 with the aforementioned 2T engine.

The designers have mixed elements from other bikes, such as the fairing used by the KTM RC16 from MotoGP or Moto2, the headlight from the RC390 and of course, the TPI two-stroke engine. They wanted to name this bike the KTM RC300 TPI, and the truth is that the appearance of this sports car is absolutely spectacular.

Now it's time to ask if KTM could really make such a bike. The answer, saving the distances, is yes. The TPI engine is approved to comply with the Euro4 emission regulations, so there would be no problem using this same engine in a 300cc sports car. What would have to be seen is if by making the appropriate modifications to it to adapt it to the mechanics of the RC, this homologation is still possible.

Nowadays, two-stroke engines have been reduced to motocross and enduro bikes. The truth is that it would be very interesting to see a street bike that returns to this configuration in its engine. If KTM materialized, it would find a very important sales niche and surely its rivals would soon launch similar products. The 2Ts will always be in our hearts.
