Things To Expect From Your First Driving Lesson

by Sam Cameron Innovative Writer in Australia

Everything has a "first time". A driving lesson is no exception. When you're going to learn for the first time, you start anticipating so many things. The important thing you keep thinking about is how you'll do in the lesson. So, when you go for driving lessons in Hawthorn, you must have a list of things that you expect from your driving lesson. Make sure that your instructors provide you with these important things. Otherwise, it will be a total waste of money. Who wants to spend on a driving lesson that leaves them with no knowledge at all? The control of brakes, steering, and accelerator are the basic things that you should consider while taking the first driving lesson. But there are thousands of others as well.

Before Your First Driving Lesson

There should be a good preparation part before you take a driving lesson. They include:

  • Get some sleep

  • NEVER drink the night before

  • Breakfast!

  • Double-check where and when you're being picked up

Things To Carry For A Driving Lesson

A driving lesson becomes easier for you when you carry things with you. Let's check out some of them:

  • Comfy, non-slip shoes

  • Glasses if you think you'll need them for driving

  • You cash/cheque for the lesson

  • Remember your provisional licence

Things To Do Just Before Your Lesson

  • Get picked up for your first driving lesson.

  • Be super ready. Your driving instructor near Box Hill won't allow you extra time. So, if you are, the loss is all yours, in terms of money and time. Your driving instructor can reach early often, be extra prepared for that also.

  • The driver instructor can allow you the driving seat straight or they can take it first. So, don't worry about either case. It's good if you're allowed the driving seat or not.

The instructor often wants you to notice tiny things while they drive and you observe.

There Cockpit Drill

When you've arrived at a quiet road with low traffic, your instructor will have you switch so you're in the driving seat. It may seem weird but it's not.

This is a process to explain the cockpit drill to introduce you to the checks you'll need to do every time you drive.

Things To Check Before The Cockpit Drill:

  • Doors securely closed

  • Seat comfortably

  • Established steering position

  • Seatbelts on

  • Adjusted mirrors

Next, you'll get a run-through of the clutch, accelerator, and brake. Your driving instructor near Doncaster will teach you how to use the handbrake and indicator, and how to change great.

To be sure whether you're confident enough to run through the controls again, you should do it again.

2 hours is best and enough for your first lesson so you have a chance to learn your controls and get some driving in too.

Taking To The Road In Your First Driving Lesson

Before you start the engine, your instructor is going to explain a few key procedures:

  • How to use your gears

  • Clutch control includes finding the biting point

  • Checking your mirrors and blinds spot

  • Signaling with your indicator

  • Changing gear

  • Stopping the car, covering the brake and the clutch

  • Curb-side parking

  • Changing gear

While you're taking the driving lessons in Doncaster, you should focus on your learning and nothing else. Your instructor will have their own set of controls. So, just go with the flow and expect the best outcome.
