Losing weight is not a cinch. You can take years to reach your weight loss goal for all the high-intensity training and strict diet. You may think that you are doing enough and the necessary things to trim down, and yet you do not get the desired output. You must be missing important things.

Weight loss is not just about following a strict diet and doing rigorous exercises to burn calories. You need to bear in mind so many things associated with diet and exercise.

Some people invest in equipment and take out emergency loans in Ireland to buy them, but creating a gym-like atmosphere at your home may not be enough to achieve your weight loss goal. You need to wise up to important facts that can completely change methods of shedding pounds.

Things that you did not know about weight loss

Here are some important things that you must know about weight loss. Lack of adequate information often causes some mistakes that pull you back from achieving the desired goals.

·         Radical workouts are not the only way to lose money

To trim down, many of you think you will have to do radical workouts like weight lifting, sit-ups, jumping pull-ups, etc. Weight loss means burning calories, and you do not need to pay a gym subscription for that. It rather involves making small changes that you stick to for a long period.

You have to be physically active, and for that, you can do brisk walking and fast cycling. You should exercise for about 150 minutes to shed pounds. At the same time, you must take in fewer calories than you burn. Otherwise, you will not be able to reach the desired weight.

·         Obesity is a biological problem too

It will be wrong to say that you are obese because you eat too much. You cannot have full control over your body. You can decide what you will eat and what you not, but you cannot control how your body will absorb the nutrients and react to them.

Some people assume that weight loss is all about willpower, but the fact is that dozens of factors have contributed to your obesity. Innumerable genetic problems are associated with this problem, for instance, thyroid, polycystic ovary syndrome, etc. Some studies have found that resistance to leptin is also a cause of obesity.

This hormone tells your brain that your body has enough stored fat. Since it is resistant to it, your brain will think that your body needs food even if you are not starving. Some people are obese because of genes. If it is a genetic disorder, you cannot lose weight no matter what.

·         All carbs will not make you put on weight

Undoubtedly you have to take in fewer calories than you consume to lose pounds, but you still need to be careful of what you are eating. Most of the people totally remove carbs from their diet because they think that it puts on weight. It is just a plain myth. The fact is that a low-carb diet aid weight loss.

If your carb intake is low and protein intake is high, your diet will support weight loss. You should choose food that consists of healthy carbs. Processed foods are harmful to your weight loss journey because they consist of refined carbs. You will simply put on weight by eating refined carbs.

Whole foods that are high in carbs will help you feel fuller for a longer period, and henceforth, you will take in fewer calories. Carbs are good for your weight loss journey, provided they are healthy carbs.

·         Starvation will not help you lose weight at all

As weight loss means burning more calories than you consume, you should try starving. This will quickly get you in shape. Wow, that is a good idea. Unfortunately, crash diets are no longer helpful to shed pounds. They will rather make you put on weight in the long run.

If you starve, you will be missing the essential nutrients needed to function properly. You will also be low on energy, and eventually, you will hanker for high-sugar and high-fat food. Further, starvation does not lead to burning calories quickly.

When you stop eating food, the metabolism of your body will be extremely slow. It happens so as to make you survive even without food. Even if you have completely stopped taking food, your body can survive for a number of weeks depending on fat reserves in your body.

Starvation will cause weakness over a period of time. Have a balanced diet ensuring that you do not consume more calories than you burn, and be cautious of the source for calories. For instance, fruits and vegetables are healthier sources for taking in calories than cookies and chips.

·         Snacks do not need to be completely removed

Snacking does not need to be completely removed from your diet. Healthy snacks will never make you overweight. Some people need snacking between meals if they feel low on energy. Snacking does not mean you should eat chips, pasta, and the like.

These snaking options are absolutely unhealthy. You should rather snack on fruits, cucumbers, carrots, etc. These are low in calories and a healthy choice.

·         Skipping meals cannot help shed pounds

Skipping meals is not recommended at all as this will result in exhaustion. You will feel low on energy and have a craving for sugary food.

The bottom line

If you want to lose weight, you will have to take in fewer calories than you burn. Skipping meals or starvation is not the right way to shed pounds. You should eat a balanced diet and exercise. The combination of these two things can help you achieve your goals.

However, be careful about the type of energy source. Some foods are very high in calories, so beware of them. Under no circumstance, calories intake should be more than calories burnt. If you stick to this basic principle, you will easily achieve your weight loss goals.
