The Ups and Downs of Blog Syndication

by Fusion 360 Studios Digital Marketing Specialists

The world of SEO is growing at a rapid rate. From Utah to the East Coast, marketing and advertising companies create SEO content to increase traffic to sites. There are so many strategies and so many details that go into creating this content for the Web. It can be easy to become overwhelmed in trying to figure out what is and isn’t necessary in this part of Web strategy.

Blog syndication is a component of SEO that has been questioned by experts from Utah to the Midwest. Syndication is a process in which a blog or piece of written online content is posted to several different sites where it still gives credit to the original author and publication. In the past, syndication typically has had a bad reputation or has been viewed as a potentially negative practice. If done the right way, however, syndication can benefit a blog.

Inserting links within search engine optimization blogs is recommended. However, it should be noted that there shouldn’t be an overwhelming amount of links within a piece of online written content. Moz Blog advises SEO bloggers to only provide links where readers might want more information and only the first instance. User experience should always come first.”

Choosing the right site for syndication is absolutely crucial in achieving success with blog syndication. Salma Jafri, who writes for the digital marketing blog Search Engine Watch recommends republishing online written material to reliable sites. Sites that review content submitted to them before publication are suggested. She also says to “Ensure you have been on a regular publishing schedule for at least 3 months prior to offering your content to a syndication network. This is because reputable networks will typically check for consistency before approving your blog.”

Other very important aspects of syndication that cannot be overlooked are the type of content the blog contains as well as the quality of the content. If a blog contains content directed specifically to audiences in the state of Utah, it shouldn’t be posted on sites that focus on other areas of the U.S. Quality should always be important when writing and publishing work. This is especially true if the work is being republished elsewhere, because this means more people will be reading the material—providing more opportunities for others to catch a mistake in the written content.

If these steps are followed, blogs from Utah to the Big Apple can have SEO success with blog syndication.
