But, before buying a chandelier, you need to take care of a few things, let’s check them out.
· How Large The Chandelier Must Be?
A crystal chandeliers should complement the size of the room, like if your dining room has an area of 21ft x 12ft, then a chandelier of size 18” x 24” will look appropriate. If in your hall, you have a high ceiling and less number of furniture items, then you must look for a chandelier, which has 2 or 3 ft wide. You must keep this fact in mind that with the increase in diameter of the room, the size of the chandelier also increases.
· Will It Require Some Additional Support?
Chandeliers are generally heavier than other light fixtures and especially the one with crystals can be particularly heavy. In case your chandelier weights more than 15 pounds, then you will require a special electrical box, the same one which you need to hang a ceiling fan. Such boxes are used to hold heavy chandeliers up to 150 pounds. If your chandelier very heavy and its weight is above 150 pounds, then you will have to fix a special mounting hardware with it.
How Far Down Should It Hang?
Your chandelier must be hanged in a way that it provides good lightening, but high enough that it doesn’t interrupt the visual space or the way; this means the tip of your chandelier must be 7’ above the floor. Don’t hang it lower than this, as it might hit on your head. In your dining room, you can hang it by keeping the bottom between 30” and 36” above the dining table in order to provide a comfortable view and height.
