The Toughest Off-Road Pickup Truck For You – Ford Ranger

The Ford Ranger is a light pickup truck available in a single-cab with two doors, a super-cab with two front doors and two rear small doors, and a double cab with four doors and five seats. It was first introduced in 1965 by Ford with 4×4 or 4×2 drive options. The Ranger offers a variety of models such as chassis, hi-rider, low-rider, and pickup with available trims which include XL, XLS, XLT, Wildtrack, and Raptor.

Engine

The Ford Ranger T6 was released in 2011 equipped with several petrol and diesel engines powered by a five-speed manual, six-speed manual, six-speed automatic, or ten-speed automatic transmission. The 2.3L EcoBoost DOHC straight-4 turbocharged petrol engine producing power and torque 270 hp and 310 lb-ft with average fuel consumption of 10 km/l; 2.5L Duratec straight-4 petrol engine producing power and torque 177 hp and 305 lb-ft with average fuel consumption of 10.5 km/l; 2.0L EcoBlue DOHC straight-4 turbocharged diesel engine producing power and torque 168 hp and 369 lb-ft with an average fuel economy of 13.5 km/l; 2.0L EcoBlue DOHC straight-4 bi-turbo diesel engine producing power and torque 235 hp and 369 lb-ft with an average fuel economy of 13.5 km/l; 2.2L Duratorq straight-4 turbocharged diesel engine producing power and torque 158 hp and 284 lb-ft with an average fuel economy of 15 km/l; 3.2L Duratorq straight-5 turbocharged diesel engine producing power and torque 197 hp and 346 lb-ft with an average fuel economy of 11 km/l.

Interior & Features 

The Ranger has enough interior space with features and comforts depending on trim. The base trims front seats are basic with four-way manual adjustment as well as sturdy and luxurious cloth upholstery while at the rear of the dual-cabs, you get decent legroom which is good for short journeys. Interior features include Bluetooth connectivity, four-speaker AM/FM/CD player, MP3 audio system, USB inputs, a 3.5mm auxiliary audio jack, multi-function steering wheel, large mirrors for good visibility, and cabin storage which consists of door pockets, a glove box, a center console bin, and twin cup holders.

The Ranger is equipped with standard features including Ford’s SYNC1 touchscreen system, Ford’s Easy-Fuel system, a DAB radio, heated electric mirrors, air-conditioning, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Optional features include Ford’s SYNC2 touch screen system with WiFi, satellite navigation, leather upholstery, smoked Titanium-effect exterior trim, a rear-view camera, and 18-inch wheels.


Safety

For safety features, the Ranger include Driver, passenger, driver’s knee, and thorax airbags, adaptive cruise control with a forward collision alert system, a collapsible steering column, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Automatic High Beam headlights, Ford’s Driver Impairment Monitor, and an advanced stability control system with Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Load Adaptive Control, Roll-over Mitigation, and Trailer Sway Control.
