The String between Maggie and Boarding Schools

by The Cathedral Vidya School The Cathedral Vidya School

Instant Maggie noodles are something common between everyone who has been to a #boarding school in India. It's a special part of school life most of us can associate with Maggie's special amongst the variety of noodles because of its unique flavor, aroma, and taste. It happens to be the only food conveniently prepared by students and it also happens to be the first food item most students associate with when it comes to their budding skills in the kitchen and also their first steps to independence. Those students going to universities abroad load their bags with packets of #instantmaggienoodles as if carrying a taste of home food in a foreign country. Now we also have this exported and available in most international countries.

The students at the boarding school in Pune, The Cathedral Vidya School, Lonavala do not need to prepare this on their own because it is served for all as a part of their meals in the dining room and you'll find a houseful at tea on a day when we know piping hot Maggie is being served. Life at a boarding school can be fun as students prepare themselves with life skills and enjoy a home away from home.

We all know that at home when there's nothing to eat or everyone's in a hurry Mama's going to serve Maggie...Then there is the creative experimentation that leads to all kinds of unique flavors and combinations like mixed vegetables and butter with Maggie; carrots, capsicum, peas, French beans, etc., the famous Lonavala's Cheese Maggie and some also like to add some boiled chicken to it.

Have you heard of the no-bake Maggie Pizza? Well, from the weekend vibes at the Cookery Club at the residential school Mumbai, CVSL we learned a new recipe. Ms. Chaitra taught students how to prepare this no-bake Maggi Pizza. "What's that??" was the first reaction most of the students had but it surely was one of the most memorable experiences our students will cherish.

The preparations are simple and one can prepare this in a jiffy. The best part is that you will be looking for the Maggie in the Pizza until you bite into it!! So the next holiday our Cookery Club students are home, they have a treat for their families which will be unique and tasty.

A beautiful lesson from the Cookery and Bakery Club is that students are now going home with the joy and interest in cooking and baking, along with the necessary culinary skills. They understand that it's easy to do it; all they need is to try it with someone's help. Adult supervision is essential as they learn basic skills to cut, wash, clean, arrange for ingredients, fire safety, and most importantly hygiene. A passion for #baking and #Cookery is also a budding step towards a successful and glamorous career. We have Master Chef which hosts both children and adults at an international level; we have celebrity food bloggers and Chefs with their branded line of books, vlogs, and blogs, television series and franchises. At CVSL we offer a holistic approach to life, steiking a balance between academics, sports, essential life skills, grooming, social skills and 'the ability to be yourself!!'

Students are creative and diverse; they are skilled and have wide imaginations. They need the right environment around them allowing them to think for themselves and this also ensures in a certain way that is somewhere designing their future from this moment onwards. "Studies make the famous" is our motto and best boarding school in Mumbai, CVSL teaches a lot more than just that!!
