The Real Sleep Mattress Review by Real Simple

by Sleep Sherpa Sleep Expert

The Real Sleep mattress is the latest mattress in a box offering from the magazine, Real Simple. This is a two layer foam mattress measuring 10 inches deep with an organic cotton cover. This mattress comes with a 100 night trial where you get 100 nights to try it out and if not happy, return it hassle free to get all your money back.

Unboxing and Overview of the Real Sleep Mattress

Here’s a video overview of the Real Simple Mattress.

This mattress comes compressed in a box. This is the box I received for my queen size mattress. Your mattress should arrive about a week after placing your order online.

When you open the box you get a nice welcome message.

Out of the box the mattress is wrapped in plastic to keep it from expanding.

Real sleep gives you opening instructions and a letter opener to cut into the plastic.

• Moisture and heat dissipation for better temperature management

• CertiPUR-US certified. No volatile organic compounds

My Real Sleep Mattress Findings

Overall I found this mattress to be similar to the Puffy however this mattress has an organic cotton cover while the puffy has a conventional cover. What you get is a nice supportive base and a top layer with a slower reacting foam that contours better.

Here’s a video demonstrating motion transfer. The bowling ball hits the mattress then starts sinking. A spring mattress will instantly sink when the bowling ball hits and then push back. With this mattress, most of the motion is absorbed.

Here’s a look inside the mattress. You can clearly see the two layers and how each layer reacts. The cotton cover has a zipper so removing it is easy.

Below is a picture of my 14lb. bowling ball on the Real Sleep mattress. This is classified as a medium firm mattress and I would say that’s an accurate assessment. For a memory foam mattress is is in the middle of the spectrum for firmness.

My Real Sleep Recommendation

This mattress is versatile enough for all sleepers but I think it works best for stomach and back sleepers. Overall it’s a great feel and the dense foam on the top layer provides enough pressure relief so that you really don’t need a transition layer. I appreciate that the cover is made with organic cotton but it is not an all natural mattress since the inside is memory foam.

I recommend this mattress for people looking for a supportive mattress with no motion transfer and minimal hug. This mattress doesn’t cradle quite as much as other mattresses such as hybrids and therefore won’t sleep as hot either. The Real Simple mattress shouldn’t disappoint.
