The Pros and Cons Of Recruitment Marketing Via Facebook

by Madison Jack Best Flight Tickets Deals for your destination

In our tech-savvy world, it will come as no surprise that Facebook has now become one of the many ways to advertise for job vacancies both online and in your local area. With the shift in traditional HR function to recruitment marketing, business pages and job posts have become an inevitable part of Facebook and other social media platforms. But using Facebook as a means of advertising a position within your company is not yet a pain-free process.

However, it is not all doom and gloom as there are a multitude of benefits involved in running a recruitment marketing campaign on Facebook. But whatever means you choose for your recruitment marketing efforts, there are always some merits and demerits associated with each. Let’s find out the ones that come with Facebook:

PROS-

It’s an instant platform with a lot of reach

Posting a job advertisement on Facebook generates a lot of interest in a very short span of time. This is, of course, entirely based on your ad being what people want to see. With that said, if you know where to post- local listings, job groups etc., you can be optimistic of hearing back from a lot of applicants than if you had simply advertised on the radio or the local paper.

It helps in advertising to like-minded people

If you are looking for potential candidates for a position that requires heavy use of technology, email, the internet and all its sub-species, you’re more likely to find them through your Facebook ad.

For e.g. you may be looking for a young recruit with an intermediate level of experience or a fresher who can easily work their way around a computer. With more and more people joining Facebook and turning to online advertisements for employment, it’s a goldmine of fresh and like-minded talent.

CONS-

It requires an account to sign-up

For those people who do not use facebook outside of business hours, the idea of creating an account solely to post job advertisements may be irksome. If you’re an employer of a big company, you can get an employee to post the advertisement on your behalf, but this would make the potential applicants hard to moderate. You may provide your own contact details at the end of the ad but this could also open up the floodgates for spammers.

● Some recruiting ads may get bogged down or completely ignored

Even though there are sole groups dedicated to posting job ads on Facebook, they tend to exist within their own ‘genre’ like retail, modelling etc. Your job ad may quickly get lost in the slew of upcoming posts, though that is an incentive for you to ensure that your ad copies and banners are catchy and informative. But some groups follow a three-strike policy that does not let you post your job ad more than three times. So, this does limit the option.

While every social media platform comes with its own share of benefits and limitations, Facebook is still a widely used platform for recruiting purposes with much success. Alternatively, you can avail the services of a recruitment marketing agency for handling your hiring efforts and running recruitment marketing campaigns on social media through automated drips in today’s tech-savvy times.
