The in-depth review of the Nissan Wingroad Wagon

The Nissan Wingroad is a 5-door wagon that was manufactured from 1996 to 2018 by Nissan Motors. It came with a 1.5L GA15DE inline-4 engine producing 77 kW (105 hp) at 6000 rpm mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

In 1999, the second-generation Y11 series was unveiled offering 1.5L QG15DE inline-4 producing 77 kW (105 hp) at 6000 rpm with an average fuel economy of 6.6 L/100 km, 1.8L QG18DE inline-4 producing 92 kW (125 hp) at 6000 rpm with an average economy of 7.5 L/100 km, and the 2.0L SR20VE inline-4 with Nissan’s Neo VVL variable valve timing with lift control producing 139 kW (190 hp) at 7000 rpm. All engines were mated to a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual with AWD (4WD) and CVT. The Wingroad is equipped with McPherson Strut front suspension, and beam axle with Panhard rod and coil springs at the rear. Also, include ventilated disc brakes and drum brakes with ABS.


The Wingroad G Extra was introduced in October 2000 offering optional features like a foldable TV screen and in 2001, more trims were released including the limited model Aero Sport Limited. 

In 2005, the third-generation Wingroad Y12 compact wagon was launched as the last Wingroad to be produced. It was built for active lifestyle drivers with advanced features and some unique attributes that make it more appealing to the customers.


Interior/Exterior

The instrument panel of the Y12 is curved and sportily built to have an open look. The rear seats can recline to different positions creating more room for space for relaxing and offering 412L of boot space. The front passenger seat and rear seats can also be folded flat to easily transport long items, a luggage board that can be removed to carry other items, and a luggage box with four compartments under the luggage board. The Y12 has a sporty and stylish design coupled with wagon looks and features. It offered the Sporty Aero model and the standard RX/RS model. 

Motors

The Y12 is fitted with a 1.5-L HR15DE inline-4 engine producing 81 kW (109 hp) at 6000 rpm with a fuel economy of 5.5L/100 km or 1.8L MR18DE inline-4 producing 93 kW (125 hp) at 5200 rpm with a fuel economy of 7.8L/100 km paired to a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual, with CVT and e4WD (AWD). The Y12 comes with a strut suspension system that gives better handling and stability as well as the H-shaped torsion beam suspension system for the rear with ripple-control shock absorbers and other chassis technologies for a quiet and steady ride.
