by Sara Thomas Sara Thomas

A simple bathroom rug can make your bathroom space more put together and welcoming. If you have a bare and dull-colored bathroom, adding bathroom rugs can add texture and color to the place.

Bathroom rugs are functional as well as it is decorative. Slippage in bathrooms is common most especially for the elderly. That is why placing a floor rug on crucial areas in your bathroom is ideal. Typically we place bathroom rugs outside our bathroom doors to absorb the water from the bathroom preventing water to drip on the adjacent room. Though you can also place them as decorative centerpieces on your bathroom floor as well.

Tips in choosing your bathroom rugs:

  1. For utility, bathroom rugs are used to prevent slippage on your bathroom when your floors get slippery from water and moisture. Check the traction at the underside of your rug to make sure the material used is non-slippery.
  2. Size does matter. Typically larger than bathroom mats bathroom rugs gives a luxurious look in your bathroom.  Sizes usually comes 21x32 which is a perfect addition in front of your vanity cabinets. For larger sizes such as 21 x 47 and 27 x 47 use it as a centerpiece. This works with bathrooms that have generous spaces.
  3. Look for quality bathroom rugs that won’t stain your bathroom floors. If wet, poorly made bathroom rugs can seep through dyes from the material ultimately staining your floors. Most wool made bathroom rugs are sturdy and are great in absorbing water.
  4. Choose a color that matches your lifestyle and your bathroom color scheme. A beige color might good on your bathroom but if you can’t make time in maintaining them then better go with a darker shade.
  5. Look for instructions on how to properly wash and dry your rugs. Most floor rugs have tags cleverly sewn along its edges. Make sure to follow them to maintain the quality of your rugs. Generally, bathroom rugs are wash in cold water and with mild detergent. Don’t expose it to heat as the backing of your rug may easily crack or warp due to its plastic material.
  6. If you want to know how absorbent and fluffy your rugs are, you can look for its GSM (grams per square meter) this is the measurement on how much fabric you have per inch on the rug. Most bathroom rug products have GSM details on their product catalogs.
  7. For a trendy and modern option, you can choose a Chenille bathroom rug. They can be cleaned in a washing machine and because of its plush features are soft and comfortable to step on.

All together placing plush rugs in your bathroom is actually a practical choice. Whatever bathroom type you have there’s always the right color and size to choose from. You can create a homey and classy look in your bathroom while making a safety measure for yourself or family members. These fashionable bathroom rugs are for anyone and won’t cost you a fortune.
