The 5 Tree Surgery Methods

by Qarah Ict Qarah ICT

Have you ever heard of a tree surgeon? They are the trained people found high up on trees, pruning them back to life. The title tree surgeon is sometimes alternately used with an arborist. A tree surgeon stafford knows how to cut bits and pieces of a tree, remove trees, and reshape them to any form. On the other hand, an arborist understands that a tree is a living being. This person is a professional who knows about studying, managing and cultivating trees.

The difference between them is their understanding of the tasks and the effects of those jobs on the tree concerned. Yes, the surgeon can cut a tree limb, but it may not be the correct part. Here are some methods they practice to keep trees healthy and beautiful.

Tree pruning:

Natural Target Pruning is the way a trained tree surgeon prunes a tree. They use special techniques to avoid putting the tree at risk, specifically the spreading of decay. One technique, for example, is to avoid cutting the tree at its branch collar because that will spread pollution into other parts of the tree. Cutting on these parts could result in a disease-infected tree. Decaying is limited by cutting just above the collar; a callus can grow over the wound. The same rule applies to the branch bark ridge. A tree can actually die from bad pruning, so tree surgeons must be careful.

Felling and Lowering:

When a building development gets in the way of the surrounding trees, surgeons are often asked to take them down or, at the very least, manipulate them so they aren't in harm's way. The main thing to remember in these instances is to control the tree. Methods of lowering include tipp roping, butt roping, and cradling.

Tree thinning:

Like a big pile of human hair, trees must be thinned every so often. A tree surgeon should be able to tell how much trimming needs to be done for the required foliage to come out. Alternatively, this can be assessed by a third-party expert down to the exact percentage. Once the amount of thinning is determined, the arborist should start removing secondary and even primary branches as well as young new growth. The result is a tree that allows natural light to pass through.

Crown cleaning:

The tree crown needs much maintenance to avoid splitting, weak branches, and fallen debris. Two methods for crown cleaning are the removal of rubbing and crossing branches and dead wood. Rubbing and crossing branches can cause branches to become weak and split, and dead wood can cause debris to fall.

Another option to keep a tree healthy is to cut its crown to a smaller size. The objective is to maintain the tree's shape but cut back its branches, so they are essentially pruned back to life.

Bracing:

Like you might put a splinter on a broken finger or tie a piece of string around a weak fern or other house plant, arborists use cables to support weak tree branches.
