Technology and the Evolution of Music Recording Studios

by Mike Tyson Night Owl Recording
A rapid improvement in the use of computing power and the constant digitization of theworld has rid us of many woes and made our lives much easier. Naturally, the effects have been visible in every domain, including the recording industry.

The past two decades have seen an explosion of home music recording studios as more and more people have begun installing the latest equipment and making use newly available technology. However, just because someone has purchased audio equipment does not make them a qualified “audio engineer.” While the start up costs, which used to prevent home based studios have been greatly reduced, the skill and expertise of a professional recording engineer is as important as ever.

How did technology change the world of recording?
Professional audio recording services in Vancouver have changed a great deal. While the industry used to be dominated by a few large operations, many smaller studios have opened up, using this newer technology while still employing highly trained and skilled professional audio engineers. The large, analog, massively expensive equipment has given way to a whole new breed of efficient, affordable, high-end equipment, which is allowing smaller studios to provide artists with the most modern, up-to- date technology at an affordable price with a personalized touch.

 The new generation tools are a stark contrast to the old-school processes that were and are being used. Not only do they cost lesser, they also allow better quality in sound recording and production.
 Modern computers do not require any third party assistance or the installation of heavy equipment for handling the audio or editing it. This self sufficiency has given a boost to the speed at which one recording is completed.
 The very nature of sound manipulation has undergone a dramatic transformation. An endless number of enhancement filters and special effects can be incorporated as a part of the final production without much hassle or expenses. None of this would have been affordable previously in the production.
 Advanced technology has also led to substantial process automation. As a result, producers and engineers can focus more helping performers create the best music rather than spending their energy manually performing tasks.

The quality of music in recent years has certainly experienced an amazing improvement while the quantity of music produced every single day has grown exponentially too. The change is apparent in every sphere: from connectivity, to production or editing.
