Story Behind Finding The Perfect Pair Of Silver Earrings

It was the scorching summer of June when I was on a shopping spree with my mother. Living in the new and locality of Agra, exploring the old city had its own charm. Usually, we entered this part of our hometown for shopping miscellaneous jewellery from bangles to maang tikkas to silver earrings to anklets to necklaces. My mother told me once that the old city had a plethora of jewellery wholesalers and retailers who sold top-notch quality of jewellery at pocket-friendly  prices.

It was customary for us to visit the jewellery outlets located in the city area when there was a wedding in our relations. Wedding season was approaching and so was my first cousin’s wedding. My cousin trusted my mother’s choice than her own mother’s tastes. I remember that she was initially reluctant to purchase the maroon lehenga embellished with sparkling stones hanging on a decorated dummy at the entrance of a well-known wedding dress showroom in the old city. But as soon as my mother gave her the green signal for the lehenga, my cousin was the first one to rush back into the showroom. It is always better to start off your wedding shopping as earliest as possible otherwise the prices of even the cheapest lehenga soar up.

That summer afternoon, I was searching for an adorable pair of silver earrings to enhance the look of my boutique-made crop top and shirt which I was supposed to wear on my cousin’s wedding. Hopping from one shop to another, I found that the jewellery markets had a wide variety of traditional and modern silver jhumkas in different designs, patterns and textures. I was afraid to get my hands on the heavy silver jhumkas as I had usually worn light weight earrings. I was not sure whether I would carry them well or not. The accessories you wear reflect a part of your personality. So, I did not want to buy any accessory that I didn’t portray my true self. I guess, the most difficult part after finalizing your dress is finding the perfect ornaments.

Choices often spoil you. I couldn’t decide on a pair of earrings that looked stylish, trendy and sophisticated. I wasn’t that demanding, I suppose. Irritated by my fussy nature, my mother gave up and we decided to get home empty-handed. With a disappointing look, I was taking heavy steps to reach for an e-rickshaw that would drive us back home. There I found them while crossing the footpath, a pair of classy and elegant silver earrings shone in my eyes from the display of a not-so-popular jewellery retailer. As I entered the shop to inquire about its price, I was happy to hear that they fitted my budget. Without any further delay, I handed the jeweller the price in cash and got my glittering earrings in my hands. Just as I wanted, beautifully crafted with a flawless finishing line.
