Stop being a joiner, and support just one business

by Stephen Hall Videographer / NLP Consultant
Problem: I was guilty of this, it's called joiners, you join the latest thing on the web, hoping to be the first one to get the money. The only problem is you keep doing it, and become overloaded, with too many URL's and passwords, to remember, and where to put all those adds and tell people how they all work.

So you put up Web Pages with Multiple Businesses, trying to get them all going at once, but it doesn't work very well does it... You see when people see these type sites, they don't  join any of your businesses. Because, first off, who is going to support them, and answer all their questions, about all those various businesses. Plus the fact is, you don't even know about them yourself, so how can you explain them to others. You just putting us more garbage sites that people take a glance at and move on. So finally you end up trashing the whole  idea of working on the web.

Solution: Get someone to Mentor you,  running just one business at a time, using one website, at a time. Learn all you can about that one company, and how it works. Now you can support others, and build your team, using this one company. With the help your mentor to guide you as to, "what to say", and "how to answer the questions" and how to promote the business properly plus how to design your site too...

My Mentor Franto Hruz, Owner or Business Builders Group has really helped me to rediscover the web, and how to get people to see your product or your service. Plus he help me build my site to attract customers not just another showcase site like all the others on the web. But by learning to do this one business at a time, and become successful at it, has really encouraged me to get back online and make some money.

Result: The goal here is to clear your mind from other distractions, so you can pay attention to, the business at hand. Not to be scattered and overwelmed as before. Plus when you drop all the other companies you'll have less emails to deal with, as they were all auto-responders anyway, not real people. Plus now you can really build your list from writing articles, and using free safelists, plus in some cases, your upline will give you some leads, from their overflow.  Here's the link to my BBG info: mybusinessbuildersgroup

I see the point you are making in your article. Don't try to promote too many programs at a time. However online marketing as an affiliate of other online businesses is a little different than a brick and mortar business. In online marketing you need to diversify and not put "all your eggs in one basket". If you don't know how to make your links clickable send me a PM and I will tell you how. Giving your article my "Like".

Stephen your point is very well taken. I think that some people do try to concentrate and learn one or two programs, however, if nothing is happening then they get the point of becoming joiners through frustration.

I think that diversity online is necessary, but you have to be realistic about spending money to join programs and you never reap any reward.

You don't JOIN a business - you CREATE one! All these cheap programmes that you seem to consider as businesses are nothing more than a few clever marketers using you to build their mailing lists for them.

Stephen, your article is very nice, that kind of message can't repeated often enough. Focus is the way to go. By doing on promoting one business at a time, you increase your chances of success a lot, then the money you make with it helps to promote thr next one, and so on... As for your signature, look in the APSense Wiki, in the General section, click on Tutorials or on "How to add links at APSense" you'll see a video about making your signature work. You might not be able to have 3 since we are limited to 100 characters, but using anchor text looks a lot better.

Arthur, most online marketers are affiliates of created businesses. Everybody can't create a business.

Where is the common courtesy in some of these responses?

Roosevelt, because ou are an affiliate of a business does not mean that you have "joined" that business. If you use the replicated business web site you are sacrificing any autonomy associated with a business of your own. You can create your own business as an affiliate by being original or different, Far too many marketers feel that using the business web site is sufficient but they are not creating their own business - simply advertising someone else's. Look along the high street, how many of the successful businesses there do you see that are agents (affiliates) for the products that they sell? Only the franchises look the same as each other - and they are very expensive to buy and set up. It is no different on the internet.

Stephen, a great article, which gets across an important message. It is the same as hopping from progran to program because you dont get reseults and money "yesterday". Roosevelt, I am sorry, I do not agree with you. An online business is very similar to offline. You need to put time and effort into building a business wherever, whatever it is - and you cannot do this if you have fingers in too many pies.

I think that the main point here is to focus on one business to promote at a time, else you risk failure at trying to promote many things at the same time. When you start getting some success, you go to another, and so on. I'm pretty sure that's what Roosevelt meant.

Great article Stephen, well writen and informative, it is obvious that if you chase too many rabits you end up with none. @ Roosevelt I can understand where you are coming from, however there is very little difference between creating a offline business to creating one online, many offline businesses act as agents/affiliates and sell to order in these austere times to reduce there stock outlay. so it is possible to create a core business and use a varied number of affiliate products within your chosen niche online

Thanks Sean for the clarification about many brick and mortar businesses being agents/affiliates. I didn't realize that point. Thanks Philippe for expressing more clearly what I am trying to say on this subject. Hey, The MG's, you don't ever have to apologize for disagreeing with me. I love diversity of opinions.

I was also guilty of being a "joiner" at first. Then one of my coaches responded to one of my excited comments about a new program. He told me that there is always something new, a new launch, an exciting NEWBIE, on the internet. The way to make money is find something you like doing, whether it be an affiliate program, a talent, or a home business, and stick to it. Don't go changing your mind every 90 days, which is the average by the way, and focus on the one thing you like doing. You will surely make money if you hang on to it long enough. Cheers!

Liz, you just revealed the way the gurus make money on the Internet: they find all the newbies and they keep selling them "new" products which are repackaged old ones

This discussion turned out to be very interesting, so can I remind everyone to click on one of the tags above the comments section to add a "like" to the article?

That's a good point, Philippe. There are many good articles with great comment threads yet many forget to "Like" the article, which is unfair to the article writer, in my opinion.

I think some members don`t realize that's what the tags are for, Roosevelt, even though their use is written clearly

I think the bottom line to this is I don't want a business, a few of those cheap programmes that send me money is just fine with me. I spent 40 years running my own business and now the freedom I enjoy if a breath of fresh air.
