Step By Step Basics Of Building Construction Process

The building construction process basically involves two major stages: The pre-Construction Phase and the Construction Phase. The below-mentioned process is followed by most of the Construction Company in Delhi.

• Pre-Construction Phase

1. Acquire Land: It is the most crucial step in the building construction process. When purchasing land, location is the most important factor to consider. The location of the lot should be assessed according to your needs, as well as its proximity to facilities like public transport, highways, schools, parks, etc. If you already have land, half of your problems are solved.

2. Technical Consultant and Design Professional: Your technical consultant will assist you in defining the scope of work for an architect and structural engineer for your building project.

3. Prepare Estimate: The building estimator calculates the cost of the building project by estimating the total material and work needed and preparing a sheet containing the total cost.

4. Selection Contractors: The selection of a competent contractor is crucial to the timely completion of the building project. At the same time, it is imperative to maintain the quality of construction.

• Construction Phase 

1. Site Clearance: The first step in the construction of a building project is site preparation. This task involves clearing the site of any obstructions such as woods, debris, tree roots, old buildings, etc., and leveling the ground.

2. Site Survey, Layout and Excavation: Upon completion of the site clearance activities, the next phase is surveying and laying out the site. During the site layout survey, surveying equipment such as levels, theodolites, total stations, etc. is used to correlate construction plans and mark the location of proposed structures. Following the layout of the structure, the excavation process begins using the appropriate machines based on the type of soil and the size of the excavation area.

3. Foundation: Construction activities start with digging the ground for the foundation. The building's foundation is the part of the structure responsible for transferring load from the structure to the ground. Therefore, it must be built carefully and precisely.

4. Plinth beam and slab: An additional reinforcement called a plinth beam and slab is added to the foundation upon its completion. The purpose of reinforcing the foundation with the plinth beam and slab is to protect the foundation from dampness and prevent its cracks from reaching the wall. This will make sure the foundation remains strong in the event of an earthquake.

5. Bricklaying: As per the architect's blueprint in the building plan, materials such as concrete blocks and fly ash bricks are used to construct the visible portion of the building. In order for the bricks to be held together as they are arranged by the masonry, cement and sand are mixed in a cement mortar mixer. The structure of the windows and doors are carved out by the masonry when erecting the building wall.

6. Lintel: The lintel is built once the wall has been constructed. Like the plinth beam and slab, a lintel is a beam placed across door and window openings to support the load above.

7. Roof coating: The roof is the structure of the uppermost layer of the house. Roofing is a way to form a covering on the uppermost layer of the house and protect it from harsh weather conditions.

8. Electrical and plumbing: During this stage of building construction, wires and pipes were located between the walls and slabs, so they are hidden from view; only the ends of the pipes and sockets are visible.

9. Exterior and interior finishing: Following electrical and plumbing renovations, plastering work begins. Plastering the exterior of the building is done by mixing cement and sand together. Plastering can enhance the structural strength, weather protection, and visual appeal of a building. Interior design is done by experts according to the architect's specifications.

10. Flooring: The flooring work begins once the exterior and interior décor has been completed. There are many types of flooring depending on their use, cost and level of finishing. 

11. Painting: The final step in building construction is paint which protects the building from water and the sun.
