Staying up late: Reasons to stay up late

by Albert R. A One Assignment

The modern day dream of any student is to have a successful job, a luxurious car, a career that fulfills all of the youthful desires. In order to achieve that stature, a student has to go through rough times and face many difficulties one way or another. In the contemporary world a student finds it hard to make time for studying, given that one has to look at his/her extracurricular activities as well. There are not enough hours in the day to excel in every field. In such disdain, pulling off an all nighter seems like no issue at all. It has become common for students to stay up all night in order to study. But does it work?

It seems like a simple trade off to exchange a little sleep in order to get good grades in your academic paper. There might not be enough time for everything in the day hours so why not sacrifice a few hours of sleep? The more you study, the more you learn.

While it seems to boost the potential of a student, the fact is that, lack of sleep leads to a person, not absorbing the information correctly and may in fact disrupt the work already studied for.  It gets harder to connect to information already known. Sleep deprived minds cannot process the information correctly that can lead to anxiety during exams. So if you don’t sleep at night, the function of remembering the information is left no more. If you’re up all night studying for a cumulative final, your brain doesn’t get the chance to sort out through all the information and you’re more likely to forget. It is important for the brain to get at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep.

In comparison to not sleeping throughout the night, taking nap breaks is more beneficial so that the knowledge keeps cramming into the brain and it processes.

The main question to be asked is: How to manage your study without depriving any sleep? It’s simple, keeping yourself on schedule. This may seem like a very difficult task, but it’s not. If you have a chemistry exam next week, it’s better to start preparing now rather than doing it at the last moment. Another way is to take breaks from studying, it is not only meant for napping breaks, but you might be stressed out from other activities as well.
