Spiti Motorcycle Expedition - The Middle Land

Forbidden Land Lahaul & Spiti have taken over the Leh-Ladakh adventure circuit in recent years for motorcycle tours in India for adventure enthusiasts. Spiti is more challenging than the one to Leh-Ladakh. When you come from Kullu Valley road passes over Rohtang Pass at 13,054 feet. Lahaul and Spiti valleys are separated by the Kunzum Pass, at 15,059 feet. Kinnaur is usually connected to Spiti Valley but Winter months again its cut off. Lahual and Spiti hardly receives any rainfall and as per Elders Rainfall will play havoc here as Mountain composition is such that there will be widespread Landslides. Spiti is High altitude desert situated in the rain-shadow region of the Himalayas. Kibber Wildlife Sanctuary is the only wildlife sanctuary in India located in a cold desert. 

Kibber Village Highest motorable road Kibber village is built in a narrow valley on top of a limestone rock. Key Monastery, the largest and the most important Buddhist monastery in Spiti Valley and is located close to Kibber. 

Numerous Forts, Palaces, Temples, Monasteries and residences of heritage prominence are found all over Dev Bhumi. The Thousand year old Buddhist Palace Monastery of Tabo with its fine wall paintings and stucco statues has been declared a World Heritage by UNESCO. Some of the Key places to visit are, Nako, Dhangkar, Tabo, Pin Valley, Kaza, Kibber, Gete, Langza, Hikkim Komic, Ranrgik Losar, Kunzum Pass, Chandrataal, Gramphoo etc.

Chandrataal lies on a glacial bowl. The shimmering blue lake is surrounded by snowy hills. Camping at the Chandrataal is simply surreal. The Chandratal lake is situated at an altitude of 14,000 ft and is one of the most remarkable spectacles you’ll ever come across. This lake attracts its share of Shepherds, Celebrities and Tourist its medium size makes it perfect for walk around. On a starry night, and if you’re lucky, not only akash ganga but meteor showers will keep you company. Chandrataal is also known to change colors, appearing Emerald blue, Bluish green and crimson red at different times. The Pin Valley National Park is an alpine meadow that shelters rare Himalayan animals like snow leopard Himalayan brown bear, Musk Deer, and Himalayan blue sheep.
