Small Screens Soaring Heights!

by Sudha ITP COO

The seamless advancements in technology and the relentless upgradation of tools and techniques in the digital market continues to amaze the spectators. With mobile phones gradually hitting the ‘value for money’ belt over the past few years, are seemingly nowhere losing their importance in one’s life any sooner!

The fact is well picked-analyzed-understood by the electronic companies and so they are working day in and out to deliver a great range of pocket-friendly smartphones. The mobile market is hence flooded with the smartphones with enormous operational capacity.

Time has changed and so has the choices and preferences of the customers. The idea of traditional TV viewing does not excite the customers anymore as they are being molded to a more dynamic environment of Mobile TV viewing.

The market can witness that a considerably great share of consumers has flocked to smaller screens eventually creating demand for high-quality online media content. Consumers prefer to watch regular television on their handheld sets when their own schedule permits. This is identified as the Content-On-Demand approach by the service providers. The market trends have thus converged its ways to satisfy customers’ growing priority and need of ‘flexible’ and ‘convenient’ services.

Mobile TV viewing includes a term called Video on Demand (VOD) which avails the users with the facility of viewing Videos or Live TV through Video Streaming. The Mobile TV operates on the ‘Unicasting’ method of one-to-one or point-to-point, unlike Traditional TV which operates on the broadcast method. In this, every individual user gets the individual stream from the streaming server. The wireless digital signals enable the viewers to relish a delightful experience of TV viewing.

The growing possibilities of video streaming, apparently to get brighter in future, have given traditional TV viewing a run for their money. The average time consumer spends on mobile phones is exceedingly more than the current TV viewing. The main reasons can be summed up as:

  • Improved smartphone hardware is one big reason which makes it easy for the users to experience high-quality online videos.

  • Improved broadband services have helped to raise the video streaming standards. The wider range of 3G/4G/5G services has made the downloading of encoded files quick and hassle free.

  • Improved mobile network capacity has given room for more traffic to drive in. This helps to provide breakthrough levels of quality and service for live and On-Demand video streaming for mobile devices.

  • Electronic companies are delivering excellent devices for video streaming as well as they are coming up with the devices which can communicate with the Big screen TVs, making it an even more delightful experience for the end user.

With faster-growing networks and tremendous growth opportunities, video streaming continues to stay a notch above the regular TV tradition. Mobile users might continue to access Live TV till eternity because traditional TV fails to fulfill any criteria which make it worth watching.

To sustain customers and to enhance the customer experience the providers should have VoD billing software/system.
