SIMON Watertight Floor Boxes

by Gerry Griffin Owner
SIMON watertight floor boxes are made by one of the leading manufacturers of electrical components in Europe. They are generally preferred for use in a large number of projects all throughout United Kingdom and Europe, including those in shopping centres, designer stores, supermarkets, car showrooms, airports, and many other places. For tiled floors, these electric outlets are designed in such a way that they would sit flush with the finish of hard floor surface. In raised floors, a grey trim made of plastic is fitted to the back box. The top surface comes with a shiny brass or stainless steel finish that has either a safe Hex Key/Allen key opening or a regular lever opening option.

Given below are some of the different options available in SIMON watertight floor boxes:

KSEO Standard :
This brass or stainless steel floor box comes with 5 amp or 13 amp socket and is IP66 rated for water resistance. The unit also has a back box that is either a flanged type (KGETF 170/23) or screed type (KGE 170/23). It can be installed in a deck area or a raised floor. The top of the unit features a mechanism with cap release trigger, which makes it easy to open the lid. While operational, the lid is kept slightly open and propped by two lid pillars that prevent the cables fitted in the socket from crushing. Thus, the unit also complies with the IP20 standard.

KSEO Security Lid :
The KSEO security lid is also available only with 5 amp or 13 amp socket, and features a Hex Head or Allen Key opening lock. Just like KSEO Standard, the back box supplied with the unit is either a KGE 170/23 or KGETF 170/23. The Safety Lock feature ensures that only an appropriately sized Allen Key can be used for opening it. Being IP66 and IP20 rated, the unit provides both water resistance and protection of the cables from getting crushed.

Power and Data :
This floor outlet comes with either a brass or stainless steel lid and also a Cat5e unshuttered data outlet. The different features of the unit include lid locking, socket options, and surface finish.

The back boxes provided with the floor outlets, KGE 170/23 and KGETF 170/23, are made using halogen free thermoplastic that is a natural flame retardant, and has low toxicity. The latter variant is more suitable for access flooring or decking.
