by Mike Adams Consultant
As you sow, so shall you reap. This is also quite true for those who are just about to begin their careers. Making the right choice really matters especially when you have no clue about how you are going to make your mark in the competitive business environment. Many students are not even aware about what talents and skills they have because they have never pushed themselves beyond their regular skills, or they are not aware of the hidden talents and skills they possess. If you have the right skills you can make great career as educational consultant and help students to find their right careers and dream jobs.

One of the reasons why you can make a good career as a student advisor is because there are many students who are not sure what decisions they have to make in the distant future and how their life depends on it. As an advisor it will be your job to evaluate their skills and talent the right way and guide them to pick the right subjects in their college or help them pick the right jobs where they can naturally fit in. You can evaluate the way they behave and their peculiar characteristics and find out which job sectors are ideal for them.

Student counseling is all about offering help to students who have no clue about what lies ahead. Hence, the job fits those who are interested in helping out others. If you are passionate about helping others and guiding them to the right path you can make a career as a counsellor. You can also make decent amount of income from this job because there are many students that would want to know more about the skills and talent they have and which subjects they should choose in the college or which job sectors are ideal ones for them.

As a coach you also get to learn a lot about different perspectives from different students that share what they think and know about themselves. This is also a great opportunity for coach to understand how different students evaluate themselves. The job is also about visioning where you have to focus on individual students and focus on what they are good at and how they can channel those traits into their work in the future. As a counsellor you need to bridge the gap between where the student is currently and where they want to be in the future.

Every student assessment requires lot of brainstorming and therefore as an advisor you need to sit with the student and focus on certain things that can help you evaluate the student. In most cases, students might not have clarity about what they want to become and how they will achieve it. This is where you need to come in and ask them questions about what they aspire to be and what good qualities they have and what are the real-time challenges that needs to be overcome. With the right amount of brainstorming and assessment you will find that this job offers a great opportunity to grow as a person.
