SEO or Search Engine Optimisation is something that keeps changing according to the changes in algorithm of popular search engines. Yes, SEO has to be changed just as design trends keep changing.

SEO has become far better than those horrible days of spam websites with rubbish content to offering improved search engine users experience.

Search Engine Optimisation is an unending game which needs to be played tactfully. For those beginners it may seem to be confusing at first. As you get into the real game you'll know how to play it well. And the result may be achieved sometimes too quick and sometimes too late. However, what decides your level of victory is your entry up into the next level (in terms of google ranking).

SEO rules are simpler and if you follow these rules right, you can't go wrong. To help you better understand these rules in your SEO adventures in 2018, here are our Golden Rules on the dos and don’ts of SEO.

  • Do Keyword Research to find Relevant Content Topics

Relevant and useful content can drive an SEO campaign to success. Always make sure that you write about topics that are important to your target audience. Do keyword research to help you make the right choices and look for trending patterns among certain keyword phrases.

  • Use Relevant Title Tags

Title tags play a big role in SEO. They are very important indicators for your web pages or posts. Make sure you use words and phrases that accurately describe what you’re offering. Try to use keywords that are relevant to the services you offer, but make sure these keywords match with the page content as to avoid confusion.

  • Use Keyword Synonyms to Avoid Repetition

Do not use your focus keyword over and over throughout the page. This will annoy your readers as this can make them feel bored and lose their interest in reading further. If your text is repetitive and unreadable, you’ll risk losing readers. Ensure you use synonyms of the keywords and key phrases you want to be found for.

  • Use the Language of your Audience

Ensure your text is related to the audience you are writing for. If your audience consists of scientists and you write for college students, then it would make the situation more complicated. Also, do not forget to use the tone as in a live conversation, especially in a way that will fit your audience.

  • Make a Clear Call to Action

One of the best ways to bring traffic to your website is to rank high on google. Once you are up there, make sure it is clear what you would like people to do. Having lots of traffic to your page is awesome, but without an end goal, the traffic won’t convert. That’s the reason why you need to have a clear Call-to-Action. Ensure your call to action is very clear. What would you like people to do once they have reached your page? Buy your services? Book an appointment? Always make it clear.

  • Do not over focus on Few Phrases

Narrowing your focus is always good practice, but make sure never to get too caught up on only collecting a handful of keywords or phrases. By doing this, it will make your website come across as boring and repetitive in which it will fail to give google an accurate view of what your company is all about.

  • Do not Overuse Keywords

Using your keyword too many times in your content is inviting trouble from search engines. Using the same phrase over and over again will make your post annoying for readers too and they’ll lose interest in reading the text further.

  • Do not Link to External Sites too often

Although, linking to external sites as considered to be improving your website’s credibility, linking too often to external sites will be considered as something unnatural by Google. By overflowing your content with unnecessary external links, you are creating major damaging factors. These will make your content hard to read, resulting in huge bounce rate from people clicking links and leaving your page.

These are the 8 Golden Rules for SEO in 2018, added to these, here is one more point which will make your journey clearer as a Search Engine Marketer.

  • Do not buy Backlinks

With the advanced technologies to support, do not try to over smart buying backlinks and taking part in link networks, which will cause to damage your website more than doing any good.

Search Engine Optimisation is not an easy task to be accomplished in few days. It’ll take some time and long term processes to see the results. Keep trying new ways that you come across!
