See what the Honda Vezel has to offer

by Masashi S. JDM Enthusiast

The Honda Vezel is also referred to as the Honda HR-V outside of Japan and was first introduced in 2013. It is a five-door subcompact crossover Sport Utility Vehicle that offers great qualities, functionalities, the elegance of a coupe, and the practicality of an SUV with outstanding fuel economy.

Concept and Characteristics

The exterior style of the Vezel is a fusion of two elements, with the lower body having an SUV-like and the upper body with a coupe impression resulting in a distinct and sharp character. The front has two LED lights and an LED light guiding stripe on the rear lights. The interior is spacious with Honda’s “Expansible Cockpit” concept, comfortable soft upholstery, and LED lights for room lamps and front-map lamps.

The front of the Vezel has a high-quality, smooth, and advanced instrument panel as well as enough space for the front seat occupants. Other features include flexible drink holders with adjustable bottom, a fully automatic air conditioning unit with a wide flow air vent on the front passenger side, and plenty of leg-room at the back seat.

The Honda Vezel is packed with safety features including passive safety of Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) and the Pedestrian Injury Mitigation Body which absorbs collision, and the City-Brake Active System which consists of side curtain airbags and front-seat i-side systems.

Additionally, it has advanced features that provide smart driving assistance like the Electric Parking Brake, Automatic Brake Hold function, and Reactive Force Pedal, which is applicable when driving on a slippery driveway or road. It controls the response force of the accelerator pedal when the driver exerts too much force on the accelerator.

Drive and Engines

The Vezel comes with two power options, the natural aspirated 1.5L L15B inline-4 direct-injection DOHC i-VTEC engine which generates power of 80 kW (110 HP) at 5800 RPM, and has an average fuel economy of 6.7 L / 100 Km (35 MPG). While the Vezel Hybrid has been fitted with Honda’s next-generation i-DCD (Dual Clutch Drive) hybrid system mated to a naturally aspirated 1.5L LEB inline-4 direct-injection DOHC i-VTEC engine and powerful electronic motor which generates power that is close to a 2.0L engine.

The normal engine of the Vezel supplies power to the wheels through automatic, CVT, or CVT with paddle shifter gearbox, while the hybrid engine distributes power to the front wheels using a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission with inner high-output electric motor plus paddle shifter. It is available in an all-wheel drive or front-wheel drive layout, so go to our Honda Vezel stocklist now and get yours today.
