Spring is the happy ending of winter. It is the blossom season for plants but some people have allergies from flower pollens. It is the most beautiful time of the year but for those suffering from allergies, it is the most difficult time.

Enjoy spring even if you have allergies by taking following steps

Reduce exposure to allergens that trigger allergic reactions

·         The best time to enjoy the nature is after rain because the rainwater would clear the pollen from the air. Otherwise, you should remain indoors as much as possible.

·         Avoid doing gardening work or delegate it, if necessary. Garden work like lawn mowing and weed pulling would increase your exposure to pollens resulting in allergies.

·         Clothes you wear outside should be removed inside. Also, you should take shower to clean pollens from your hair and skin.

·         Always wear a pollen mask while doing outside chores.

Precautions to take when pollen count is high

Extra pollen in the air can flare up seasonal allergies and if you aren’t aware about the pollen count or taking extra precautions, you would certainly be in the grip of allergies.

·         Keep an eye over pollen counts with the help of media including local TV channels, newspapers and Internet.

·         Start taking allergy medicines, when there is forecast about high pollen count. It will help prevent the symptoms.

·         Keep all window openings and doors closed during high pollen count.

·         Pollen count is highest in early morning hence you should restrict your morning activities during this time of the day.

Keep indoors clean

It is difficult to remove all Allergens from the air but you can try keeping the indoor air in your home as much as possible.

·         Always use air-conditioning in home.

·         Use only high-efficiency filters for forced air heating or air conditioning.

·         Use a dehumidifier to keep the air dry.

·         Keep a high-efficiency particulate air filter (HEPA) in bedroom.

·         Use vacuum cleaning with a cleaner that has a HEPA filter.

Rinse your sinuses

Nasar irrigation with a saline solution is a great way to relieve nasal congestion. Also, it is quick, efficient and safe for people of all ages. The process cleans nasal passage of whatever mucus and allergens have accumulated in nose.

If you still get allergy, you should take no-prescription medicines to ease allergy symptoms. But it always better to go to a doctor to control the symptoms and prevent allergies to take dangerous proportion.
