The field of Psychology needs no introduction! It is upcoming and highly sought-after career option! The interest in Psychology is due to a number of reasons, besides, it is just a stream of “mind-readers” as mistaken by the general public, there’s a lot more intense work that psychologists actually do!! Here’s what you can become after actually pursuing it as a career:

 CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY:

While this is the most the sought-after field in psychology, Clinical psychologists do brilliant work with people who have difficulties in coping with life. They work in hospitals, Clinics Rehabilitation centers, NGOs, etc. and help people fight with problems of emotional nature, anxiety, psychological disorders, and work towards their evaluation by psychological tests, assessments, therapies, and treatment.

 

2.       DEVELOPMENTAL/CHILD PSYCHOLOGY:

Although developmental psychology covers the whole life span, its most popular variant is child psychology. Child psychologists deal with the psychomotor, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children and infants. They assess the developmental growth of infants and children by psychometric tests and they can work in child therapy centres, schools, NGOs. Child psychologists also play a big role in special education.

 

3.       INDUSTRIAL/ORGANISATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY:

Organizations now need employees equipped with new-age skills, and heightened motivation, and emotional regulation. Therefore, they employ people with education in Human resource training and understanding of Organisational Behaviour. Knowledge and skills of motivation building, Improving Client/Office/Workplace relations are essential to each organization; are they willingly ready to invest in candidates with good credits. The scope is enormous!  Ranging from multinationals to small-sector start-up businesses.

 

4.      FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY:

This field involves solving of crimes based on evidence found on crime scenes in order to predict the criminal’s next crime. Forensics involves the judicial and legal system with regards to witness testimony and specific content. Forensic Psychology requires the understanding of Human Psyche and the intent of the crime, and also defining the quantum and nature of sentencing. This field requires certification in Forensics post-M.A/ M.Phil. in Psychology.

 

5.       SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY:

With the given madness of sports in our country, a field that promises to improve the performance and the motivation of sportspersons and athletes are bound to gain importance. A sports Psychologist works with sports teams, Sports Coaching centres, academies, and leagues and works towards building factors (psychological, emotional, physiological, motivational, pressure, etc.) that affect the performance of sportspersons.
