Science Proves why a Seaside Holiday is the Key to Happiness

by Abbi Clarke Traveler
If you thought psychoanalysis has got nothing to do with you plan a trip, or if you assumed that science is as away from your travel plans as is your destination from you, then we have facts that will startle you. Apparently, being a water baby is not the only reason why most of your trip planning revolves around the best of sea-side destinations.

Observe a pattern of your travel itineraries, every time you are stressed, have you in deliberately picked a beach? I mean sure, those margaritas are great to knock you off and the beach side swimming would free up your soul, but what else can be the reason for science to dive deep into the research of why most people feel stress free at a beach side location.

One of the reasons for this is the “blue space”. Have you ever noticed desktop wallpapers, the most abundantly found picture would be of nature because staring into the sea calms your mind. That blue space is literally like a huge canvas available for you at sea side and would definitely temporarily free you from your monotonous woes.

Another reason that most trip planning portals or travel planner websites have backed up is the need for space that a mind wants. As our public spaces are becoming bigger, our personal spaces are curtailing to the minimalistic availability. In such a scenario, a brain always feels tired and in a way suffocated with the small spaces it is forced to deal with daily. Which is why, a sea side provides you something that your brain wanders off to in its day dreaming scenario- which is wide abundant space. Michigan University had a research to find out if this logic applies to forests as well if natural space is all that our minds crave for, but the result was negative- due to the presence of various obstacles in the space that our brain likes to wander off to.

Another very interesting fact that university of Exeter has come up with is a study of the cities that are situated by the coastal regions. A city majorly affects out psychological well being and often to escape the mundane urban nature, we make vacation plans with safety tips. In a recent study, where they created coastal habitat like scenes in a lab to notice how people react and as they expected, the results were positive.

So, basically making those life plans holding hands in front of the sunset is not a myth, or sharing your problems with the horizon while having a deep eye contact with the waves is not an abnormal activity at all it seems..well who knew?
