The most common instrument cluster problem seen on the Mercedes S-class Switec is faulty analog gauges. This is usually the first gauge problem the vehicle owner sees and is experienced as a stuck, sticky or jumpy gauge needle. Occasionally the needle will reset itself temporarily after the ignition switch has been turned on and off a few times but soon returns to its erratic behavior.
