Robotics with AVR and Its Application
by Jason G. Content writerThe robotics industry is
experiencing fast growth and the demand for robotics applications is also
growing in India. This translates into need for trained professionals in the
field of robotic systems design and development.
Embedded robotics covers many disciplines like mechanical, electronic, computer science, design and programming. Many institutes offer AVR training on embedded robotics development or Embedded Systems with AVR.
AVR Atmega
Microcontrollers - A Good Choice For Robotics Development
The AVR
microprocessors are based on the Harvard architecture 8–bit RISC processor. From the available gamut of microcontrollers,
AVR Atmega range of microcontrollers from Atmel is considered as one the most widely
used microcontrollers. Based on RISC
based architecture with Flash and/or EEPROM for storing data sets and
instructions, and good hardware interrupt features, it allows robot designer to
constantly supervise the pin status – very essential for robotics development.
Since registers or mapped memory locations are used to access and control
specific pieces of hardware like pins or timers, the need to hard wire
instructions for each part of the microcontroller is eliminated in majority of
the cases.
Other attractive features of AVR Atmega include Timers,
Digital I/O, Analog to Digital Converters and serial connections that make it
possible to communicate with other electronic components to carry out tasks
such as operating motor and transmitting or receiving feedbacks from sensors or
obtaining reading in digital form.
Owing to this, programming complex instructions is possible which can used to operate advanced robotic systems. More importantly, the codes can be stored on the chip board on inbuilt Flash or EEPROM storage space. For example, codes written in higher level language such as C or C++ can be compiled and converted into machine instructions using the compiler AVR-GCC. With software, the program with specific instructions can be downloaded on to the chip.
Scope for Robotics
Engineers
With the tremendous rise in the growth of the robotics industry, the number of job opportunities in robotics industry has risen significantly. With this being the case, Robotics engineering has become a career choice of many in the current times; particularly, considering use of automated robots in various sectors to make various tasks easy. Automated robots are used in activities related to mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, computer science and automation engineering, and other areas. More importantly, the use automated robots vastly reduces the need to employ manpower resource.
Since robotics engineering comprises of many different disciplines, it would be a wise choice if a candidate undergoes Robotics Training with AVR from a reputed AVR training institute. On completing Robotics Training with AVR, candidates can find job in military technology, space exploration and home automation.
Robotic engineers are also needed in industries, or research
labs who design and build robots or organization who undertake maintenance of
robotic systems, which include monitoring working, testing, and programming code
for robotic systems.
