Reasons to See Your Gynecologist Right Away

by Kevin Smith Author
Do you know your body well enough to know if something is amiss? Many women tend to put off going to the gynecologist for as long as possible, but certain situations require an appointment as soon as possible. If you are experiencing these obgyn problems in The Woodlands, it’s time to schedule a visit.

Your Menstrual Cycle Changes

A bit of fluctuation during your period is normal—you may notice a heavier flow one month or a slight delay in your cycle another month. However, if you see severe changes or if smaller changes last more than a couple of months, it is important to see your gynecologist. Irregular periods, heavy flow or extreme pain during your menstrual cycle may indicate a larger problem such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

You Notice Painful Lesions

If you notice painful pimples, blisters or other sores near your vaginal or rectal areas, you may be suffering from herpes. Foul odors or discharge could indicate one of several other sexually transmitted infections. Unfortunately, even if you use contraception exactly correctly, it is not 100 percent foolproof. There is always a very small chance of infection, which means you need to see your doctor for any obgyn problems in The Woodlands as soon as possible, even if you don't think an infection could be the problem.

You Experience Any Type of Pain

Perhaps you are experiencing severe belly cramping even though you haven’t injured yourself. Maybe sex with your partner has become painful. Regardless of the source or reason for your pain, it is important to see your doctor as soon as you can. Pain in the pelvic area may indicate serious issues like cysts or an ectopic pregnancy.

Above all else, use your intuition to determine if you are experiencing obgyn problems in The Woodlands. It is better to be safe than sorry, so never feel as if you are blowing something out of proportion. An experienced gynecologist like the ones at New Beginnings OBGYN can help you determine what is going on.
