Troubleshooting Gmail crashing issue: Quick Fixes

1.    Check installed extensions.

Check for all the installed extensions on your system. If too many extensions are enabled, it may cause the crashing of the Google Chrome browser. Disable any extensions that are not currently in use. If there are any malicious extensions enabled, it can hinder the normal working of a browser.

2.    Conflicting software on the system

Any software installed on the system can conflict with the normal working of Chrome. To check this, you can type Chrome://conflicts in the address bar and click Enter. It will show you the list of the software which is causing Gmail crashing on the Chrome browser.

3.    Restarting the device

When Gmail crashes on your system, the browser will prompt two options- Wait for the program to respond or Exit. Choose Exit and close the Chrome window. Switch off your PC or mobile phone and restart it. Restarting the device will help Gmail to regain normal working.

4.    Flash plugin Google Chrome

If you use the Flash plugin internally on your system, you may face the regular crashing of the Gmail on your Chrome browser. Disable the internal flash plugin and use the standard one in Chrome.

5.    Check for malware

Scan for any malware on your system using a good anti-virus or anti-malware software. A malicious program may have entered your system without your knowledge and may have messed with the normal working of the Gmail on Chrome browser.

6.    Switching to a different profile

A corrupt Chrome profile can hamper the normal working of Gmail. Regular crashes may occur due to this corrupted profile. Try creating a new profile from the Settings’ page on Google Chrome.

·         Go to the Settings menu.

·         Under the Users options, select Add new user.

·         Create a new profile.

Check if the crash still occurs or not. You can sync your old profile anytime, but avoid copying any file to your new profile as it may be corrupt.
