Step 1: Acquire and Set Up QuickBooks Tool Hub


The QuickBooks Tool Hub is designed to address common issues. To use it, you must shut down QuickBooks. For optimal performance, it is wise to use Tool Hub on a Windows 10 64-bit system.


  1. Close QuickBooks.

  2. Download the newest Release(1.6.0.3) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file in an easily accessible location, such as your Downloads folder or the Windows desktop. 

Note: If you have previously installed Tool Hub, you can determine your version by selecting the Home tab, where you can see the Tool Hub’s version number displayed on the computer screen at the bottom.

  1. Open the downloaded file (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation and agree to the terms and conditions.

  3. Once the installation finishes, tap twice on the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.


Note: In case you cannot find the icon, search for QuickBooks Tool Hub on Windows and select the application to open it.


Step 2: Launch File Doctor for QuickBooks


  1. Hit Company File Issues from the tool hub.

  2. Click on Run QuickBooks File Doctor. The file doctor may not open for up to one minute, so be patient and don’t close the process.

Note: If the QuickBooks File Doctor does not open easily, you must try searching for and opening the QuickBooks Desktop File Doc manually.

  1. In QuickBooks File Doctor, select your company file from the drop-down menu. If your file is not visible, select Browse and search to locate it.

  2. Now, choose the middle option to find and verify your file, then click "Continue."

  3. Here provide the credentials by entering your QuickBooks admin password, then click the Next button.
