Products You Want Out of Extreme Cold Temperatures

by Kevin Smith Author

Winter is coming in New York. As a northern state, you know that your area is susceptible to very cold temperatures that can ruin some of your delicate products. It is time to put some of your items in heated storage containers in NYC. With how limited some of the spacing can be inside of these storage containers, you have to determine which of your items you can keep in your home and which ones deserve the proper protection from the colder temperatures. You can figure this out by knowing which items will be the most vulnerable in the cold.

Leather Furniture

Leather chairs may be great to sit on during the summer, but they can fall apart and crack easily when the air starts getting colder outside. Before you put these items in storage, you have to make sure you properly wipe down and dust your furniture before covering it. It can help keep your furniture in prime condition without it collecting so much dust while it is not under proper usage. You also have to put plastic material on the floor around the bottom of the chair to avoid any moisture from collecting near the pegs of your chair.

Wooden Furniture

Colder temperatures can quickly deteriorate your wood as it can freeze your bolts and the water contained within the wood itself. Your wood can crack or bend into awkward shapes if you leave it exposed for too long. There is a lot of craftsmanship that has gone into this product, so keeping it in a constant warm area is the best way to maintain its proper shape. Like the leather furniture, you need to have it properly dusted, wiped down, and covered up before placing it into storage as it can stain and collect dust easily without maintenance.

Electrical Equipment

Freezing temperatures can potentially short out any electrical products you typically leave outside. Even keeping certain items in the garage can be dangerous and be too cold for some appliances. With the amount of moisture buildup, your metallic, electrical appliances will begin to rust the longer they are not in heated storage containers in NYC. Just make sure the products that you will put in storage are items you do not plan to use during the winter. For example, an electrical grill designed for outdoor barbecues will not be practical around this time.
