Preparing Your Child for Pre-nursery School
by The Knowledge Bus Global Preschool PreschoolNursery
school is an important milestone for the transition of your child from a
toddler to a school going kid. To help your kids prepare for nursery, we have
various pre-nursery schools, also commonly known as preschools. The preschools
are a great boon for working parents as they can leave their kids in a
preschool and take care of their work. As the toddlers get into their
pre-school, some amount of preparation is required by the parents to help them
cope up with pre-nursery school.
Adjusting
to a pre-nursery school is difficult for a child but it can be done with ease
with the support of the parents. These tips can help you to prepare your child
for pre-nursery school.
1.
Plan for more social activities
All
preschools will engage your kids and provide them the opportunity for them to
mingle with other toddlers. They need to start getting used to group activities
and sharing. So the best way to teach them to be in groups and play
cooperatively is to arrange play dates with neighbor kids and engage them in
activities. This way, they will get used to playing in groups.
2.
Tell them what to expect
Take
some time off every day at least one week prior to when your kid is going to
join the pre-nursery school and tell them where they would be going to and what
they would be doing. It is also a good idea to visit the classroom with them
before the school begins to make them familiar with the environment.
3.
Good Bye Ritual
This
is an interesting ritual that you can start to practice with your child before
sending them off to a playschool. Don your creative hat and make up a good bye
ritual such as a high five or see you soon that they will look forward to each
day. Give extra time for your kids to get ready during the first few days.
4.
Hone their listening skills
Many
preschool kids will read stories or do activities that will require your kids
to be seated and pay attention. Hence you can prepare them for this by
occasionally asking them to sit quietly with their eyes closed for a few
minutes and you can conduct some activity like playing the sounds of animals
and ask them to guess the sounds. This way, they will build their listening
capabilities and also learn to be seated for such activities at their
pre-nursery school.
5.
Make the purchases required along with the child
This
is an important step which many parents skip. While parents get into the
preparation mode for the Pre-nursery school, they do not involve their kids
while buying bags or snack boxes. It is good to leave the choice to your kids
to select what they want. This way, we are indirectly hinting them that they
would be going to a preschool.
As
pre-nursery school in India marks the first step in the school journey of kids, it can
be quite challenging for the parents to tackle them. With right preparation and
mind-set, it can be made an enjoyable experience for both the child and the
parent.
