Preparatory work before installing the siding.

Of the huge variety of finishing walling materials siding stands out simplicity of operations in terms of its installation on the facades. Regardless of the raw materials from which this material is made, do-it-yourself installation siding is a real process because it is universal. That is, whether it is vinyl siding, metal, wood or fiber cement mortar, it is mounted on the crate. So the most important thing is to correctly install the frame construction on the wall.

Siding frame

The frame can be assembled either from wooden bars or from a metal profile, which is used to install plasterboard sheets. Today, some siding manufacturers offer ready-made frame elements that are sold complete with cladding.

1. Timber is cheaper, but for the lathing of the facade finish, at least 1 grade is required. That is, dry, without a large number of defects: delamination, cracks, bluish spots, wormholes and eyes. They are necessarily treated with antiseptic and flame retardant. But note that under the action of high humidity, and then drying, the bars can lead, which will affect the quality of the walls of the house.

2. In this regard, the metal elements better. They do not change their size under the influence of temperature and humidity. They do not need to process anything, but they are more expensive.

 

Mounting crates

Before you mount the crate to the wall, you need to prepare the last one.

1. The elements of the facade are being dismantled: drainage system, window and door trim, plums and so on.

2. If there are defects on the wall, they must be sealed with repair mortar, for example, cement-sand with a ratio of 1: 2. You can use ready-made facade putty or plaster.

3. Since the siding is mainly installed horizontally, it means that the elements of the batten should be installed vertically. Therefore, they first carry out markings on the wall, where they draw vertical lines every half meter. In the corners, regardless of the specified step, the lines are drawn on a mandatory basis.

4. On the applied lines, direct suspensions are installed every 50-60 cm, which are fastened to the wall with screws on plastic dowels. That is, they drill holes in the wall, drive them into the wall with a dowel hammer, attach a suspension that is tightened with a self-tapping screw. For each suspension at least two fasteners.

5. Along the perimeter of the window and door openings, direct suspensions must be installed. Here the installation step is from 30 to 50 cm.

6. If the facade of the house is planned to be insulated, then this should be done right now.

Wall insulation

For the facade, which is veneered with siding, it is best to use plate insulation material. This is mineral wool or polystyrene foam. The main thing - just choose the insulation thickness. For central Russia suitable thickness of the insulating layer of 50-60 mm. This thickness mineral wool and polystyrene plates are sold.

If you are warming and cladding a house with siding in the northern region, the insulating layer should be at least 100 mm. And here there is a difficulty, because the antennae of direct suspensions have a fixing length of 80 mm. That is the heater is thicker. In this case, proceed as follows:

 

•          wooden bars with a section of 50x50 mm are installed vertically on the walls along the marked lines; I do not align them vertically;
•          and already on them, direct suspensions are fixed to them and fastened with wood screws to them.

There is an easier and better option - under each suspension install a short bar of the same section, which is pre-attached to the wall. And already to him a suspension. In this way, the distance from the cladding to the wall surface increases, where the insulation layer with a thickness of even 130 mm will fit.

As for the installation of insulation, in each plate make through cuts with a knife, so that the antennae of suspensions can squeeze into them. Therefore, it is very important to accurately determine the location of undercuts.

The plates themselves must be laid tightly to each other, so that gaps between them do not form. If suddenly the gaps still remain, then they must be filled with foamed sealant. It is foam in a barrel, but not assembly. It does not increase in volume in air.

Continuing frame assembly

In one corner of the facade mount profile. It is set using the level vertically and attached to the antennae of the suspension with special screws, which the masters call bugs or seeds. Now four or five strong threads are tied to the profile, which are pulled to the opposite corner of the house. Here, each thread is set horizontally, after having been attached to the screw screwed into the wall. That is, the filaments should form a plane that is flat both vertically and horizontally.

 

According to them, first set the angular profile, fastening it to the suspensions, then the rest intermediate. Be sure to carry out the installation of profiles on the perimeter of the window and door openings.
