Poker Cash Table Guide: Raise and Call

by Siyun L. 網路科技服務
If you have a look at any table at the All-Star Game, one of the first things you will notice is that you rarely see the player just call before the flop (the so-called "only with the lowest note"). In most games, the first player to bet in the pot will start with a raise, usually 2 to 4 big blinds. This is a strategy worthy of your study when you play the cash table next time. The reasons are detailed below.

If you only raise when you get a strong hand, each time you get the regular deck you want to play with only the lowest note, then the opponent will easily see you. Whenever you see that you only have the lowest note, they will A big raise, forcing you to fold before the flop, or you have to invest more than your budget to see the flop. However, if you just raise the card you want to play and raise it before the flop, your opponent will not be able to see you, because the cards in your hand are from a pair of A, to the same flower, to the small number of pairs. It is possible that there is no way to judge.

More ways to win money
In addition to disguising the cards on the hand, another major benefit of raising and not calling is that you have the opportunity to win the blinds immediately, sometimes even without a flop. At this point, if you get a strong card, this is not necessarily the best result, but if you raise with a weak card like K-9 (maybe because the previous players are folding, you are After the position), you can take the blinds without any effort, and the result is not bad at all. This little money doesn't seem like much, but if you continue to win the blinds, you will eventually accumulate a considerable amount. If you just call, you lose the option to win the blinds, and usually you have to support the flop to get the pot.

Focus on the big picture
If you raise before the flop, it may also have a positive chain reaction to the next development of the hand. Suppose you raise with 7-6 and one person calls. The flop came A-2-4. The flop didn't help you, so I should give up, right? wrong! Because you raise before the flop, your opponent will start to think you have a strong hand and it is likely to have A. If the opponent checks at this time, then this is a good chance to continue to bet and find a way to steal the pot. If your opponent's deck is stronger than you, such as a card with a maximum score of K or even a pair of mid-point cards, they are easily scammed by you, thinking that you have A in the hand and fold. Of course, if someone calls, unless you can form a better deck, or if you find that your opponent's deck is not strong, you should be ready to fold on the turn.

Compared to the minimum bet before the flop, even if the flop is exactly the same and the opponent checks, any bluff you try will be less credible. So if you get A, you must raise before the flop, right?

Sometimes it is easy for people to think of playing cards as a puzzle that needs to be solved one after another, but it is not. You should try to think of a strategy for the entire hand, and this strategy is often started with positive actions that are raised before the flop.
