Pierre Auguste Renoir’s Biography

by Geng Mima painting art

In a garden of blossoming flowers, there is a girl in blue dress with white lace. She wears brown boots, her golden hair shines under the sun with a little red bow, innocent smile is there on her rosy angel’s cheek. She stands there very joyfully with a copper pot in her hands.

The little girl is the portrait in Pierre Auguste Renoir’s work A Girl With a Watering Can, painted in 1876.

Pierre Auguste Renoir (1841-1919) was born in a tailor’s family, in order to make ends meet, he left home for Paris at a very young age, worked in a ceramic factory. It was not until his 21 when he finally had enough money to learn painting at art schools and Gleyre studio. Though went through poverty and many setbacks, he was still a optimistic person who filled his works with sunshines and flowers. He loved to paint children and women, and all of them seemed happy and lively as the painter himself.

Let’s take a look at another famous work by him, Madame Charpentier and Her Children, finished in 1878. In this painting, Renoir depicted two lovely sisters with extremely exquisite strokes. These two children, seemed to be no more than 5 years old, were in their short skirts. The elder sister was asking the mother questions, questions after questions. The younger looked at her sister with curious eyes. Their mother must had been the happiest mother ever! Renoir’s works always bring pleasure, ease and fulfillment to the viewers while at the same time he himself enjoyed the happiness of life during the process.
