PCB and its Usage/Applications

by Nian Zhen Blogger

A printed circuit board or simply known as a PCB is a flat, typically thin, membrane-embedded medium that is used in the fabrication of electronic circuits. PCBs are made of materials like ceramics, glass, polyimide, FR4, and carbon fiber composites.

In general, printed circuit boards are used where space is limited or when a high degree of electronic integration is required. A general application is to connect electronic components or chips on a single printed circuit board. The field of electrical engineering has also adapted the concept for other applications requiring a flexible circuit substrate.

The foremost printed circuit boards were produced for military applications during World War II. They were made from corrugated cardboard, which could be easily folded into small sizes for aircraft and submarine use; this led to their name being applied to any printed circuit board. During the late 1940s, commercial production started with PET film used to make them simpler to assemble; they were also cheaper than wire wrap assembly techniques owing to their low cost compared to copper foil resistors.

With the advent of integrated circuits, they became more common in consumer electronics products and increasingly more complex products like personal computers (PCs) and video game consoles have been produced with multiple layers of PCBs stacked together onto one another.

Talking about the present time, no electronic product can exist without printed circuit boards, be it domestic appliances or space missions.

A PCB is used in many different applications

Printed circuit board design services are used to create electronic circuit boards for electronic devices ranging from small elements to entire systems. PCBs have a wide range of applications, including telecommunication, automotive, industrial, and consumer electronics.

PCBs are widely used in the development of electronic circuits because they provide a lot of features that make it easier to design functional circuits. They comprise:

·         Low-cost manufacturing: PCBs are easy to produce, making them cost-effective for firms who need relatively large quantities of complex circuits.

·         Versatility: PCBs can be flexibly configured to meet different needs and specifications.

·         Longer lifetime: PCBs last longer so your customers can rely on the durability of your electronic products.

How to choose the right printed circuit board manufacturing company?

If you are thinking to launch your new electronic item in the market, you probably have given a thought to finding the right PCB manufacturing company.

There are many factors that influence choosing the right assembly company for your needs:

1) Manufacturer's reputation – You can find out more about it by checking review websites like Yelp.

2) Quality assurance methods – You can talk to the present and former clients of the company and find out more about it.

3) Cost-efficiency – You can check different PCB vendors and figure out the standard market price for your project.

4) Delivery speed & quality control – You can ask for the certifications to make sure you get quality work and high delivery speed.

5) Number of employees working on your project – You can ask the company how many employees working and what are their qualifications and experience.
