Passion in the Kitchen
by Abhinav K. Digital Marketing Expert, FreelanceOver the years in India there has almost been a culinary revolution. Almost overnight different specialty restaurants have come up. Thai, Sushi, Lebanese, Italian, Greek, French, Continental to name a few. This is a phenomenon more common in the metropolitan cities, but slowly the smaller towns and cities are catching up. However this fine dining comes at a hefty cost and at times this indulgence is beyond our means. We read about restaurants serving fancy cuisine in various women magazine and lifestyle magazines. Their adverts glare at us as we surf online magazine sites. They entice us with images of celebrities visiting these outlets and raving about it. Weekend newspapers flashes there photographs and bombard us with raving reviews from the culinary gurus.
Alongside this phenomenon what I also see is how
the average Indian kitchens are changing. Gone are the days of cooking typical
Indian cuisine. Nowadays more and more people are experimenting with exotic cuisines.
Especially popular in this is Italian and continental food. As the urban
lifestyle changes and we see increased involvement of men and women in
household chores, we are also seeing how they are trying to experiment with
lifestyle, whether it is food clothes or interiors. I think in addition to
travel and TV what has greatly contributed towards this is the online world.
Various online magazine sites and women magazine are constantly
talking about different cuisine and culinary experiences. There are numerous
food sites and digital magazine devoted to cooking, new ingredients, food
reviews etc. The modern Indian couples are taking a lot of inspiration from
these sources and are experimenting in kitchens. I think this is simply
brilliant.
Cooking truly is a great stress buster. In addition to that if you want to
develop your culinary expertise and imbibe
the intricacies of different cuisines, you should go ahead. The numerous online
magazines,various digital magazine and women
magazine will help you to learn some basic tricks of the trade and thereafter
it is your imagination and passion which will help in the process. Cooking is
not difficult, if you have a good taste, a basic understanding of how tastes
and flavors blend you can create magic in the kitchen.
One of the easiest is Italian cooking; the essence is fresh ingredients,
simplicity and a ton of imagination and creativity. Let me help explain; you
want to create a pasta sauce. The basic ingredients are fresh tomatoes and
garlic, the rest is as per your taste. One can use some red chilli powder, a
dash of ginger sprinkle of coriander to adapt the Italian recipe for the Indian
taste buds.
