Packing essentials for a long haul flight

by Alice Porter Business Writer Alice

Long haul flights does not have to be uncomfortable. You can always bring your own essentials which can make your journey easier to deal with. However, not many people know what essentials to bring. Often, I see people with too many books and only read a page throughout the flight!

So, to ensure this does not happen to you, here is a list of essentials before you jet off!

A water bottle

Try not to cram as much you can into your cabin luggage. Think about fitting in other essentials such as a water bottle. When you are flying, you respire at lot more due to the low humidity in the atmosphere which means less oxygen. Rather than depending on the small cup given by your flight attendant, you can ask them to refill your water bottle.

Investing in slip on shoes

Queues are not fun. Particularly when you are waiting for security during high season, and you are quickly ripping off your shoes hoping you will be out of there soon enough. Another fact is, your feet swells when you are flying. So, do yourself a favour and invest in slip on shoes! This way, you can make sure your feet have enough room which will not be uncomfortable for you.

Comfortable loose clothing

True, your destination may be warmer than home. You are ready to get out of your flight to soak up in the sun in your new attire. However, is it worth staying cold throughout your long haul flight? It is easy to forget about the powerful air con on planes. Sometimes, the blanket is not enough either. So, opt for various layers of loose clothing. This way you can take it off when you need to.

Get a travelling pillow

I used to think a travelling pillow was a novelty item. How wrong was I! It benefited me during my long haul flight, and they are very comfortable. So, say goodbye to sore neck and hello to neck support! Most travel pillows does not take up a large amount of space either, as you can attach it to your luggage. So, at the very least you can sleep in a comfortable position.

By being prepared in advance for your flight, you do not have to fret whether you have forgotten anything. With this list, you are now travel ready!
