Oil as a Home Remedy to Skin Problems

by Miya Allen Health & Beauticians
What is Oil Cleansing?
At first it might sound a little bit crazy the idea of using oil to cleanse your skin. But actually, it makes a lot of sense. The basic idea of oil cleansing is to employ natural oils in certain combination to cleanse the skin and thus balancing the skin's natural oils. This gives you much more nourished and moisturized skin than the traditional soap based facial cleaners.

Basically, this idea of skin care and cleansing method using oil is that the oil used to massage the skin will dissolve the oil that is already hardened with impurities and stuck in your pores. The steam will open up the pores, allowing oil to be easily removed.

But Does It Work?
This is the most exciting part! Even in pregnancy, when my skin is usually hormone-crazy, I have no breakouts, red pots, or splotches! I've been using only oil cleansing and a plain antibacterial microfiber cloth to remove makeup.

When I first started using this method, I had a period where my skin got really bad for a week. Most resources I checked suggested that this is a detox reaction as impurities are expelled from the skin, and this is definitely what it looked like for me. After that, I gradually improved and by a month of using only oil cleansing, my skin was doing okay.

I cringe when I think of how people apply dozens of chemical laden products on their skin, especially in school, as they try to keep acne under control! The skin care industry is a multi-billion dollar industry, and it seems that the best solution is one of the most simple, inexpensive, and easy!

What You Need?
The most popular oils used are Olive Oil and castor, though any natural oil can be used. Castor Oil is known to be a naturally astringent and it helps to toxins from the skin, making it ideal for an oily or combination type of skin. Castor oil, however, should never be used undiluted, and I always add at least twice the amount of another natural oil as Castor Oil when making an oil blend. My favorite other oil to use is Olive Oil, though sunflower, safflower, or even coconut oils work great.

What to Do?
If you are a newbie to oil cleansing, it may take a couple of tries to get it all right and identify the oils that works best for you. This may result in breakouts and scars which might never heal. The procedure is not perfect and thus it is more of a trial and error process. People with dry skin might suffer the most as this type of skin is very sensitive to foreign objects on it.

If you are not into experimenting and stuff, you can try another more proactive method that has been proven to give positive results; Dermpura. Evidently, Dermpura is a very high product that is retailed at an equally favorable price. The consumer is well established and reputable thus, consumers are guaranteed a top of the line product that contains the most advanced, innovative ingredients. While Dermpura is well effective as a standalone product, it performs better when used in conjunction with other Solvaderm treatments, providing long lasting skin health preservation.

To Wash Face with Oil Cleansing
In the shower or at the bathroom sink, add a quarter size amount of the oil blend into your palm and massage it into the skin on your face. Apply using smooth circular strokes like you are doing a facial massage for at least a minute (two minutes is better) or until you comfortable that the oil has saturated your skin. This will remove make-up effectively, so there is no need to remove before. You can leave the oil on the skin for up to 10 minutes to really deep clean pores.

Using a clean warm washcloth quickly wring it out then open it and cover your face with it. This will create some steam against the skin to remove the oils and any impurities left on the skin. Leave the wash cloth for 30 seconds, or until it cools. Repeat if needed with the other side of the cloth and then the corners to remove any remaining oil. There will still be a thin layer of oil on the skin and this is beneficial.
