Newsletters – A Top 5 for Marketers

by Donny L. CEO

The marketing strategies people have to choose from are many, yet the most popular and the most difficult strategy to master is the email campaign. Writers write day in and day out to create compelling content for their target audience that they will read and want to take action. The hard part is when marketers and writers have to wait and see what will work and what will not work before sending to the whole email list. Once writers create persuasive emails that from the start to finish, encourages readers to take action, they gain new clients for the business.

The five steps below will help writers do just that.

1) The first thing the reader sees on an email is the subject line, and this must be very compelling to entice them to want to read more instead of deleting it as spam. Subject lines are important to good marketing of email campaigns so marketers have to test different phrases on different subjects and decide which one is best to send to the email list. A subject line master will try different phrases on a few people to, and watch for the ones that get responses.

2) Email campaigns usually get deleted because the content is not valuable enough for the reader. This makes it important for marketers to learn what readers want or need to read about that will inspire them to open the mail. If the reader decides the content is relevant and may solve a problem, they will open the mail. Spending time reading emails is not something most people have time to do, so the email must be compelling and of high content to get them to not only open the mail but also to trust your business and take action.

3) People rarely even open the spam folder much less read anything in it, they are mostly concerned with the inbox. That said, the writer must avoid anything that might trigger spam. In a 2003 government act, CAN-SPAM was enacted to set a standard of limits to the amount of unsolicited emails coming from businesses. Not only that, email providers as well as software developers created many programs that will stop, at least reduce, or keep unsolicited emails out of the inbox. By asking your present customers to put your company on their whitelist, you will avoid your email campaign out of their spam folder, and also keep things out of their inbox that is not relevant to the offer.

4) If you do not develop good timing with your email campaign, it could mean its life or its death. Too many emails and people will start deleting them as spam, too few emails and people may forget about your brand. Finding the perfect balance and using your email campaign to its fullest potential is vital.

5) One of the best way to figure out what your customers want and do not want is by watching your analytics very closely. This will also help you figure out what works best for your business because no one formula works for all businesses.

Marketers must always strive to find different strategies so they can earn more business for their company. If you, as a marketer or writer will follow the above five steps, you will have more of a chance to create compelling content and have a positive impact on your company’s bottom line.
