Never Remove These 10 Items from Your Car

by Kevish Hook Web Designer

Imagine this. You have a fun-filled road trip planned and all of a sudden a storm, accident, or mechanical problem has interrupted your plans. Depending on the severity of the problem, you might even need to reschedule your trip.

With foresight, however, you can plan for anything that may throw off your plans before you head out. The best way is to have an emergency kit in your car and pack things you can easily find in local stores or from your home.

The idea is to ensure that essentials never lack from your vehicle throughout the year. Trust us, you will be grateful that you planned in advance for an emergency. You should also remember to replace each item after you have used it.

Here are the ten things that should always be in your car:

First Aid Kit

Different people have different reasons for using a first aid kit. Ensure that it has the necessary items like band-aids, gauze, OTC painkillers, sanitizing wipe, etc

Back Pack

While cruising down a freeway or a back road, your car just may break down quite a distance from the nearest service station. This means you will have to do a bit of walking. A backpack comes in handy to pack all the items you will require until you get to the nearest gas station or house.

Ensure that it is large and sturdy enough to hold your items.

Light Sources

Car-related misfortunes happen in the worst possible moments, especially in the dark. Ensure that you have sufficient sources of light like at least one flashlight with extra bulbs, batteries, dry matchboxes, candles, lighters, etc. In a hardware or auto parts dealer you can get a mechanical flashlight that has a pumping level to power it up.

Warm Clothing

Weather conditions often change without warning. Look for materials that are light but warm; this will save on storage space. Pack hats, scarves, shawls, duvets, and gloves. Make sure to have extra items for you and your passengers.

Heat Sources

Warm clothing will provide warmth, but items like thermal blankets and hand warmers are ideal for providing extra heat. They also come in small packaging, so they allow for packing more of these sources of heat. Raincoats are also handy when you have to step out of your car in the middle of a storm.

Clean Water and Food

You don’t know how long you will be stuck before help arrives. Ensure before leaving, that you have a sufficient amount of clean water and non-perishable food like nuts, candy bars, dry fruits in air tight cans, or any food of your choice that does not require cooking.

Car Accessories

Your car may already have essential accessories like a spare tire or car jack, but this will hardly get you out of the red. Ensure to pack a mini shovel, a set of screwdrivers, hammer, and wrench.

Visibility and Communication tools

Ensure to have a full battery on your phone and carry an extra charged battery for communication purposes. Visibility tools include LED lights in the car and multiple flares outside will alert the rescue team of your position. A reflective jacket also works well to alert oncoming traffic of your presence.

Relaxation Tools

It can be a long time before help arrives and worry/boredom can cause a spike in paranoia levels. Ensure to pack relaxation tools like playing cards, your favorite books, magazines, puzzle books etc. For children, it is best to have coloring books and crayons/pens to keep them busy.

A Tank full of Gas

Always ensure that the fuel tank in your car is full before embarking on a trip. This will reduce the risk of running out of gas in unfamiliar territory.

When you have finalized your traveling plans and have the above items, inform close friends and family of your destination in case of emergency.
