Acidity can add a lot of discomfort to your life. When there is imbalance of pitta in our body, it leads to acidity and creates acidic, hot and intense energy. You will find Pitta in the stomach and it is mainly due to aggravating foods such as tomatoes, citrus juices, garlic, chillies, fried foods and alcohol. There are several toxins in these foods, due to which heartburn is caused.

The problem of acidity is very common; 8 out of every 10 people complain about acidity that's caused owing to a variety of reasons. Temporary treatment is taken by many but it's essential to address root causes.

However, if you don't know why this problem has been caused, it might be a cause of worry. The acidity problem shouldn't relapse; if proper treatment isn't taken on time, it might create long term complications.

As per Ayurveda, it occurs due to imbalance of Pitta Dosha. When the kapha is associated with Pitta, the acid rises up and climbs oesophagus. This is the reason why most of the people suffer from hyperacidity. It is also known as acid brash, acid reflux and heartburn.

Causes of Acidity

  1. When the valve between oesophagus and stomach weakens, it leads to acid reflux. It travels to the lower part of oesophagus. Heart burn is caused.
  2. Heavy meals can cause an increase in the acid reflux.
