Palazzo Pitti

Located on the south of river Arno, Palazzo Pitti is the largest museum complex in Florence and a fine example of Italian Renaissance architecture.

It was purchased by the Wealthy Medici family in 1550. Since then it was a home for them until the last Medici male died in 1737. Great Napoleon has also used Plazzo Pitti as a power base in the 18th century.

 

Today it is divided into several museums and galleries

2. The Palatine Gallery and the Royal Apartments - First Floor

Boboli Gardens

Just behind Palazzo Pitti are the beautiful Boboli Gardens. It's an exceptional green architecture that covers an area of 45,000 square meters making it one of the largest gardens in Florence.

Royal and wealthy Medici Family had laid the foundation of these gardens by establishing a layout of the gardens and creating an Italian garden style that later on becomes the model of many European courts.   

Boboli Gardens are green lungs in Florence and walking through this is simply awesome.

Boboli features countless different things including different large ponds, the main lawn with large fountains (like “fountain of Neptune” and “fountain of the ocean”) and the obelisk at the entrance, unique selections of trees like centuries-old oak trees, plants, and flowers.

The Ponte Vecchio

Florence, a city of rich art and culture is full of historic monuments and architecture. Ponte Vecchio is the landmark of the city and it was the first bridge made for crossing River Arno in Florence.

 

The bridge is noted for the number of shops that are built along the sides of the bridge mostly are art dealers, souvenir sellers, and gold & silver jewelry sellers.

 

Walking into the bridge at night with elegant lightning and fabulous views down to the river is one of the best things you will experience. There are musicians busking at the center of the bridge which makes the night quite romantic.
