Million Dollar Plan – Research

Here we go into the land of the known for some and promise for others. Not going to play around just jump into it…

Research is very important but at this stage in my life I don’t care really about the niche I’m in, I just care about the people I’m selling to…

If you don’t know who you are selling to then you are wasting time and money. In making money online you are responsible for what you achieve!

You have to practice at least doing the basics or you will be left behind. And I will tell you this people who have tasted a little glory want you to stay there so get on your job!

magazines.com

Now I know a bit of what I’m doing at this point but still I go there to look at everything. I don’t really care about the niche stuff I just care about what are the magazines are focusing on.

So once on the site I click all categories on the top nav bar. Next I try to filter through different niches really fast to see what catches my eye, when one does I look at every magazine in that field.

I look at each title and make note of many along with the magazine so when I go back another time I can compare what is just the new hotness for the day and what seems to stick around.

At some point you should get the pattern of what is good or not. In any case see if Clickbank in this case has something that to offer in your niche you may be targeting.

I haven’t had time to do the Clickbank thing in a while but check it out to see if anything fits. Anything that you choose to promote the site needs to look professional.

Any offers you send people to needs to be of high standards when you are trying to build wealth. You may send people to different offers at some point and if you send them to wacky sites it will be hard to get that image out of their heads.

Amazon is next on the list see what is hot with them in your niche and beyond. You want to read descriptions, comments and more.

The magazines where you will get a fill of titles to use and niches that may work. Comments on Amazon are feel of your customers and whatever descriptions are there is the feel of what made them buy it.

Basic Research of your Customer

Alexa.com

This for demo purposes, I used the make money online niche…so first went to Google and typed in the keyword phrase. Then I saw a site that I new was more in my niche so I copied the url and put into alexa.com: www.entrepreneur.com

Results:

Mostly females in this case

Education: Graduate School

Country:

United States Flag  United States       34.7% 441

India Flag  India     18.2% 309

United Kingdom Flag  United Kingdom     4.6%    494

Canada Flag  Canada       3.4%    420

Australia Flag  Australia    2.1%    440

South Africa Flag  South Africa     2.0%    282

Mexico Flag  Mexico   1.9%    959

Pakistan Flag  Pakistan    1.6%    467

Germany Flag  Germany 1.5%    2,400

Nigeria Flag  Nigeria   1.4%    302

So that gives me some idea of who I’m marketing immediately for free but I would go back to Google and pick out at least 5 more competitors to see if things match up.

Majestic.com

Each site I would look up I would see who is linking to them and other data. I like to use the Ref Domains tab and run them through Alexa as well.

So this is the very basics but it will get you to know your potential customer. There are paid services that go into a lot more in detail but we are keep it simple for now.

Hope this helps, it is hard to keep the word count down and try not to scary anyone off with the real hard hitting stuff but we will get there soon enough.

Thanks

Mike
