Meet the Legendary JDM Car – the Nissan Fairlady

The Nissan Z S30 car is a 2-door sports car first introduced by Nissan in October 1969 with seven generations and produced for more than 50 years. It is a legendary car with an excellent high-performance engine and great qualities that thrilled many car enthusiasts. In its initial years, it was equipped with a 2.0L L20A straight-6 engine which used SU carburetors rating 97kW (130hp) at 6000 rpm with a 3-speed automatic or 4/5-speed manual delivering 0-100 kph in 17.1 seconds.

Nissan Fairlady 280ZX


The second-generation Nissan Fairlady 280ZX was introduced in 1978 following the previous generation exterior with luxurious interiors and new chassis. The features include climate control, leather seats, two-toned paint, and gold alloy wheels. It is fitted with a 2.8L L28E straight 6 engine using Bosch fuel injection producing 99kW (133hp) at 5200 rpm paired to a 5-speed manual or 3-speed automatic gearbox.


In 1980, the T-bar roof was made available in the Fairlady 280ZX, and in 1981, the L28ET straight 6 turbocharged engine was released. It delivered 134kW (180hp) at 5600 rpm with a 3-speed automatic transmission providing 7.4 seconds from 0 – 100 kph (0 – 60 mph) with a top speed of 210 kph (130 mph) on the quarter-mile in 16.6 seconds. 


Nissan Fairlady 300ZX (Z31)


The third-generation 300ZX (Z31) was launched in 1983 with a 3.0L V6 engine. It came with a VG30E naturally aspirated engine producing 120kW (161hp) or VG30ET turbocharged engine producing 150 kW (201 hp). It offers a great high-performance engine and luxurious features that make it more popular to the customers resulting in very good sales. 


Nissan Fairlady 300ZX (Z32)

The fourth-generation 300ZX (Z32) was introduced in 1989 equipped with a 3.0L V6 VG30E DOHC VVT naturally aspirated engine producing 166 kW (222 hp) at 6400 rpm and VG30ETT twin-turbocharged engine with dual intercoolers producing 220 kW (300 hp) at 6400 rpm delivering 0 -100 kph (0 – 60 mph) in 6.0 seconds.


Nissan Fairlady 350Z


The fifth-generation Fairlady 350Z was released in 2002 equipped with larger wheels, luxurious interiors, and a 3.5L straight-6 naturally aspirated engine. This VQ35DE DOHC generated 214 kW (287 hp) and increased to 220 kW (300 hp) in 2005 coupled with a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. In 2004, the convertible model was introduced and the seven trim packages were made available. It comes with leather seats, Nissan’s Electronic Stability Control, Nissan’s Electronic Stability Control, and optional satellite navigation. Other trims featured Volks Racing wheels, Brembo brakes, sports-tuned exhaust, rear and front spoilers, customized 18-inch Volks wheels, and rear diffuser. 


Nissan Fairlady 370Z (Z34)


The sixth-generation Fairlady 370Z (Z34) was debuted in 2009 as a 2 seater Roadster or Coupe with distinct and contemporary design. It is fitted with 3.7L VQ37VHR V6 producing 245 kW (328 hp) and 261 kW (350 hp) in other models attached to a 5-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual with Nissan’s SynchroRev Match technology obtaining 4.7 seconds from 0 – 97 kph (0 – 60 mph).
