Marketing Lessons from Santa Clause

by Christina Mayer Marketing Executive of Visitorz.co.uk

At this moment, Christmas is not as far as we think. It’s roughly months before Christmas and some have already jingled their bells and built up their snowmen. You can almost feel the holiday spirit starting to spring up in the air. Red, white and gold-themed shops and websites pops out, signaling holiday cheers and sales for buyers. And of course, the holidays will never be complete without our big, jolly and giving, Santa. And did you know that as a marketer, you can learn a thing or two marketing lessons from him?

The iconic figure was never thought to be marketer. Yes, he had many audiences that wait for his arrival, but he never sells his stuff. As a matter of fact, he gives away his toys for those good children that done good deeds through the year. Even though he gives away free stuff to people, he is used as a perfect example of a good marketer (just like what we are doing now).  Ironic, isn’t it? But no marketer can ever deny the fact that Santa Clause is one of the best “marketers” in around.

To give you an idea, let me present to you these marketing lessons from Santa Clause!

  • He has lists – The great thing about Santa is that he checks his list twice. You can actually compare his “naughty or nice” list as your e-mail lists in your business.

Every marketer knows the importance of e-mail listing. Without it, you can’t reach into website traffic which do not visit your website daily. Using e-mail lists is also a good way to keep your viewers intact in order to sustain their loyalty to your brand.

  • He has an investment of good reputation – Another thing that marketers should learn from him is the way he interacts with the people. We all know that Santa is in good terms with almost everybody. No one could not smile or feel enlightened when they saw his big red costume covering his big body.

When it comes to reputation, Santa leads them all. Brands should also have great reputation in order to operate well in the masses.

  • He knows how to connect with people – Connection is needed by every marketer to ensure that their customers still enjoy the products and services that they offer. It’s like putting customer experience plus ingenuity into one big mix

The “real life” Santa can also connect with the people easily. He just laughs Ho ho ho! and everyone knows the connection between them.

  • He asks for help if needed – He can’t build all the toys and stuff that he creates for children, so he asks for the elves’ help in creating happiness.

As a marketer, you must also appreciate the process of outsourcing. No marketer can reach success without asking for help. You cannot even get targeted website traffic if you only work by yourself. Remember, it’s not a sin to ask for help in marketing.

So there you have it, friends! These are your marketing lessons from Santa Clause himself! Learn to cheer and not to fear marketing this holiday! Learn to maximize the hype and use this chance in order to generate more sales!
